Best Vitamix Value - Certified Reconditioned Series
Vitamix Blenders @ Offbrand Prices
Worldwide, Vitamix blenders are considered THE best investment for home and commercial cooking. You see these blenders everywhere from cooking shows like Iron Chef and Chopped to cruise Lines like Princess to Oprah's Favorite Things List. Hands down, these powerful blenders are simply the best.
Unfortunately, buying the best also means that some people are naturally priced out of the market. Fortunately, bargain hunters (like myself) can now score one of these top-of-the-line blenders at very affordable prices.
Yes, Vitamix's new Certified Reconditioned Series now lets you purchase one of these powerhouse blenders at USED prices that include a full manufacturer warranty!
Interested? Yep, so was I...
How I Saved Hundreds of Dollars on My New Vitamix...
When my vintage 1970s stainless steel Vitamix needed to be replaced there was no question I was going to get another one to replace it. I had run the thing constantly for over 20 years so I knew firsthand that these units truly are the best and began researching which new model I was going to get.
Initially, I was looking at the Vitamix 5200 package at Costco but that unit didn't have the preset options and was still a little out of my set price range. Fortunately, that's when I stumbled upon the Certified Reconditioned Series available direct from Vitamix. Not only did these prices beat the used prices I had been seeing on eBay and my local CraigsList but they also came with a FULL 5-YEAR MANUFACTURER WARRANTY.
PLUS, I discovered I could trade in my old machine through the Trade-In Program and get another $100 off my purchase! Only later did I find out that the Trade-In Program is only available for manufacturer direct purchases (see below). Thank goodness I didn't buy one elsewhere!
So What IS the Certified Reconditoned Program?
Vitamix offers a free 30-day money back guarantee on all of their machines in addition to their trade-in program. Of course, once a blender is received back at the warehouse, it can no longer be sold as new. Therefore the best-looking units (i.e. no scratches, etc.) that are 2 years old or LESS are put through a meticulous 17-point inspection by trained technicians who check every aspect of the motor base.
Each unit that passes this inspection is given a brand new canister, lid, tamper, recipe book, packaging, warranty, etc. and is then made available to the public at greatly reduced prices. [All blenders that do not pass this intense inspection are recycled.]
PLUS, visiting the BIU site in the text bubble further down on this page gets you FREE shipping on your order too (a $25 value).
So What Did I Get & How much Did I Pay?
As I said earlier, I had been considering Costco's "5200 Super Package" as found on their website for $499 plus tax. However, the 5200 didn't have some of the features I desired like the pre-set smoothie & soup settings, plus I didn't really need the dry grain container.
By purchasing a Certified Reconditioned Series unit I was able to get a Professional 6300 unit that DOES come with the pre-set options for only $379.99 plus tax. But then I got to take another $100 off for my trade-in (remember not available with third-party purchases) AND I sold the Savor Cookbook that came with it on eBay for $45, PLUS I got free shipping by using an affiliate link like the one further down on this page.
So, all told, my new Vitamix came to just $234.99 plus tax. That is less than half the cost of the Costco unit and it is a much better blender (the 6300 retails for $649)! All-around, I ended up paying the same price or less than a lot of the off-brand units were going for at my local mall. It's been over a year now that I've been using my 6300 and I love it; PLUS, unlike a cheaper brand, I don't have to worry about it breaking on me!
Did you know that your FULL WARRANTY means that if your blender needs to be repaired or replaced, everything is covered - even two-way shipping!
Plus, all models (new or reconditioned) purchased direct through Vitamix come with a preregistered warranty so you don't even have to hassle with registering it!

So what makes a Vitamix a Vitamix?
A few highlights...
All Vitamix blenders are handmade in the USA!
With its 2-peak HP motor and hardened cutting edge blade you can make everything from soups and frozen desserts to nut butter, dressings and alternative milk (almond, soy, coconut, rice, etc). The virtually unbreakable BPA-free Eastman Tritan copolyester canister lets you see what's going on inside and the vented, spill-proof lid lets you easily add ingredients as you blend!
As Vitamix says, "Trusted by more professional chefs than any other blender to create fresh, flavorful dishes from whole-food ingredients, Vitamix is in a class all its own. These self-cleaning machines allow you to chop, blend, cream, puree, and more through every course of the meal with a single appliance. With commercial quality and unsurpassed engineering, you can buy a Vitamix once and have it for life."
Certified Reconditioned Series Models
The Certified Reconditioned Series currently includes ALL blender models including the new S30 individual blender! This includes the Vitamix 5200, 750, 500, 7500, 300, 200, 6300, CIA, TurboBlend, and Creations blenders. For ease of purchasing, the certified reconditioned units have been divided into 6 groupings. Each grouping includes one or more blender models that are of the same value and properties. Over the years there have been models created under different names so various stores could have "exclusive models". The 6300, which I purchased, for instance, is the exact unit as the Professional Series 500, the only difference is the color options (I confirmed this fact with customer service).
Yes, you get to pick your color...
Most Vitamix blenders are available in 4-6 colors ranging from blue, black, red and white to cream, espresso, platinum and brushed stainless steel (the stainless steel usually carries a $20 up-charge). With so many color options, it's not hard to find one that compliments your home kitchen décor.
Another advantage of choosing your color is it can help you determine your model too. When I bought my 6300 this came from the Certified Reconditioned "Standard Programs grouping" which includes the 6300 and the Professional Series 500. While Vitamix had the option to send me either unit from that grouping, by choosing Black as my color I knew before it even shipped that I would receive the 6300 as the 500 does not come in black.
[Please note that stock does vary and not all units and/or colors are available at all times. Units are, of course, sold on a first-come-first-serve basis, so getting your order in sooner rather than later (especially around holidays) can help assure you get the model/color you desire.]

Going New or Reconditioned on Your Vitamix Purchase?
Why pay this when you can pay THIS?
While Amazon typically has great prices, you still pay $570.00 plus $86.25 tax ($656.25 total) for the Vitamix 6300 shown here.
Through the Vitamix reconditioned program you pay only $379 plus tax for a Vitamix 6300 (this is including the free shipping offer available from the link above).
If you trade in your old Vitamix and purchase the reconditioned 6300 model you pay only $279 plus tax.
Not bad for a unit that retails for $599, huh?
Then again, Vitamix has some wonderful new units, like the S50 personal size blender and the new 780 Touchscreen blenders that are not currently available with the reconditioned program.
