I Love Fudgy Chocolate Brownies!

The aroma of chocolate brownies baking in the oven fills the house and my family comes running. Like me, they know that nothing is beats the consistently perfect result of my chocolate brownie recipe. Straight from the oven whilst still warm and slightly gooey, they are at their best; but even days old these simple to make brownies are better than any other we have tried.

What was once reserved only for special occasions is now an anytime treat. In less than an hour from concept, we can be enjoying fudgy, rich, gooey chocolate brownies. They melt in our mouth and almost magically disappear from the pan, as everyone comes by and sneaks off a strip or a little corner.

Are you wondering the secret to creating perfect chocolate brownies every time?

It's easy, simply follow the Recipe: (I know what you are thinking, it's not much of secret, but this recipe is perfected, so simply follow it to get the gooey, chocolate brownies that I have become known for making - every time.)

Shopping for the Ingredients

Here is the best part: If you bake, you probably already have all the necessary ingredients in your cupboard to follow this recipe, as these brownies are made from basic baking ingredients.

  • On the baking shelf I will find: flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt and vanilla essence.
  • In the refrigerator I always have butter and eggs.

Cooking Tip To Make Clean Up Easier:

After we melt the butter, we use the pot as our mixing bowl. Without the added mixing bowl, clean up is quicker. Plus we don't loose any of the butter.

Did You Know They Make Special Brownie Pans?

This was a big surprise to me. Personally, I prefer to eat the brownies from the center of the pan, the ones that are a bit gooey as they have no solid edges. Therefore, I prefer a use a traditional rectangular pan. However the rest of the family loves the edges (which I think is what most people prefer).

If you need uniform brownies (or other treats) this would be the easy way to get them. The divider is a separate piece added after the batter.

This pan is a bit of a compromise. I visualize cutting four per row, so there will be a few with two edges that are still soft and gooey the way I like them, along with more corners and crisp defined edges for everyone else.

Do you prefer fudgy, gooey brownies or ones that are light and cake like? - (the recipe on this page produces the more solid, fudge like style).

How Do You Eat Your Brownies? - Plain or With Ice Cream?

I think a really good gooey fudge brownie is a stand alone treat. My kids think it is a better treat with ice cream (and hot fudge sauce). Here’s your chance to tell us what you think. There are no right or wrong answers, just opinions.

Should brownies be served as is, or topped with ice cream and hot fudge?

Have to choose? Which to pick? Which to pick? Hmmmmm. Eeeny, meany, miney mo, pick a brownie quick or slow, my mother tells me to choose this very best one. Er, no, that one! No! That one!

    • Nancy Carol Brown Hardin 3 years ago from Las Vegas, NV

Any way I can get 'em! But since you leave me no choice for that, I'll say as is with no toppings.

    • Wednesday-Elf 3 years ago from Savannah, Georgia

Actually, I'll eat brownies any way I can get them. Plain is fine. With ice cream and hot fudge is lovely. I should put this comment on both sidies...LOL. Bring on the Brownies!

    • JoshK47 6 years ago

I'm going with a complete treat by themselves, if only for my waistline's sake.

    • anonymous 6 years ago

Definitely as is and chased with a strong cup of coffee.

    • blanckj 6 years ago

Brownies are awesome by themselves. It's when I need some extra chocolate or sugar that I'll serve them up with ice cream and chocolate syrup.

    • kimbesa 6 years ago from USA

I like my brownies by themselves. Save the ice cream for another treat!

    • Cheryl Paton 6 years ago from West Virginia

Just the brownie please, with a cup of almond milk.

    • pheonix76 6 years ago from WNY

I find that adding ice cream to anything makes it too sweet for my taste, brownies are a treat all by themselves!! :)

    • jolou 6 years ago

I love them as is, they are too sweet with ice cream or fudge added for me.

    • KokoTravel 6 years ago

But I don't mind a bit of vanilla bean ice cream on top of a warm brownie.

    • wyrm11268 6 years ago

As long as they have a chocolate taste then I do not need anything else.

    • Magicality LM 6 years ago

I could eat tons of brownies just like that ... Jummy!

    • Heather Burns 6 years ago from Wexford, Ireland

Do I really have to chose? If I have ice cream, then yes, otherwise, it's chocolate! What more can I say?

      • Merry Citarella 3 years ago from Oregon's Southern Coast

Really I enjoy them any way they are fixed, but I've not tried hot fudge on them! Now I will have to!

      • donnarose60 3 years ago

I am attracted to this particular recipe - I have been looking for a brownie with that special SHINY-ULTRA-THIN surface of the brownie. THANK YOU!

      • donnarose60 3 years ago

ICE CREAM, ICE CREAM, ICE CREAM - I prefer JUST ice cream so the special, unique chocolate-ness of that particular brownie and be appreciated and experienced for what it truly is, so it can be accurately compared to other brownies. And the ONLY ice cream I eat with brownies is Haagen-Dazs "VANILLA" flavor (and NOT "Vanilla BEAN", there IS a difference). Thank you for listening.

Oh, I'll take the hot fudge brownie sundae delight, thank you very much.

      • Lynn Klobuchar 3 years ago from Minneapolis, Minnesota

OOOHhhh. So hard to choose. Both, but with ice cream and hot fudge you have a party!

      • Sandy Mertens 4 years ago from Frozen Tundra

Can't believe I didn't answer this one. I love brownies both ways. Though if they don't have the fudge and ice cream, they better have at least frosting on them.

      • Elsie Hagley 4 years ago from New Zealand

Yes the ice cream and hot fudge makes it a great sweet treat.

      • norelyngatawa 4 years ago

        Perfect combination!

      • anonymous 5 years ago

Ice cream and fudge for sureee!! It makes the treat 10 times sweeter!! And if you don't like it, just move the ice cream aside. I am a chocoholic, so I probably would go: fudge, chocolate ice cream and brownie. Perfecto!!

      • anonymous 5 years ago

Ice cream all the way! And maybe some milk to complete the package!

      • JohnMichael2 5 years ago

        go for it!

I love the brownie recipe on this page so much, I have never needed more. However, should that change, this is the five-star rated brownie cookbook I think I would select. Written by an actual pastry chef, and award the top rating at Amazon, I can admit, it was the photo on the front cover that really called to me.

It's a winner! Pinning, so I can try it soon, perhaps this weekend. The only thing I would change is making it with whole wheat flour, and if we know for sure none of our nut-allergy family members are in town, I might add nuts.
