Char Broil Infrared Gas Grill

Updated on October 2, 2012

A little bit about Char-Broil

When it comes to gas grills, there are only a handful of brands that have that upper market share. We all know Weber gas grills are very popular with BBQ lovers and also people who've just started learning the art. Char Broil is one company that is also very competitive although not as popular as Weber. Having said that, Char Broil is the leading company that produces infrared gas grills. It might be some form of marketing gimmick but before you start assuming too much let me tell you how this infrared gas grill really works.

Char-Broil Quantum Infrared Urban Gas Grill with Folding Side Shelves

An example of a gas grill with this feature is the Char Broil Quantum Infrared Gas Grill. This gas grill has individual burners with its own temperature gauge, working at the grate level to increase accuracy of getting a true reading of the actual cooking temperature. The advantages of doing this is that it allows you to know the actual temperature of your meals without it getting it too cooked. It is also highly efficient as the grates are specially designed to conduct infrared heat and prevent flare ups which probably explains why it only needs 2 burners.

Another great feature about this Char Broil gas grill is the versatility. It is designed to also allow you to add wood chips directly onto the cooking grates for better flavor and prevent flare ups. Here is what one customer said about the gas grill in general.

The major, most important thing to consider about this grill is that it cooks much more quickly than your conventional gas grills and is a lot more like charcoal.

Infrared: By far, the most important thing! It's not all "marketing hype", it truly makes a huge difference! IR will sear the outside of the food and "trap" the juices inside, making EVERYTHING more juicy than you can even imagine! Plus, it makes really cool sear marks. Like I said, pay attention to cook times, though, as stuff cooks extremely quick on this.

Char Broil Patio Bistro Infrared Gas Grill

If you are someone who wouldn't want to spend more than $300 on a gas grill like the previous model then it is worth considering something that is cheaper. True enough the technology is pretty expensive but things will get cheaper with time.

the Char Broil Bistro IR Gas grill is ideal for those who want something small but does the job great. For BBQ lovers who love grilling steaks and chicken breasts on the balcony or in a small porch, this is one great grill to consider. It is also great for small families and for those who want to take their grills on their camping trips or outdoor BBQ adventures.

Basically this Char Broil Bistro IR Gas grill comes with:

  • 320 sq inches of IR grilling area
  • Integrated electronic system,
  • Stainless steel premium cooking grates
  • 12 000 BTU burner system

There's also a electric grill variant of this model but also with the Infrared feature. This is what one customer mentioned about this particular gas grill:

Heat gets evenly dispersed to a very hot temp if wanted, and helps it cook all around. Took less than an hour to put together, and I tried it out on some salmon. squeezed some lemon juice, sprinkled some dill and then some course salt, grilled for about 5 min's (fillets) and it came out very good. love it. but for whatever reason it was cooked and moist and lots of flavor.

Other Char-Broil IR Gas Grills

There are also other Char Broil IR models available besides the above two:

  • Char-Broil Infrared Gas Grills
  • (Char Broil Quantum Infrared Gas Grill belongs to this family)

@myrules: Um, no. They're not. See that pretty so-called 'stainless' in the first vid ? That's the only time it will look like that. After mere months it will look like the underside of a 30 year old pickup truck in the rustbelt...but rustier. These grills look great for a bit, work OK for a bit longer and then dissolve away.....unless, of course, you want to spend $50/year on parts...
