i love these cookies they are a welcome delight at a cookie swap party. I usually accept sugar cookies in exchange, and I like butter cookies too. You may want to to fill a lovely red box for Valentines Day. Some of my favorite gifts have been baked by special friends and family. This recipe includes oatmeal, you can leave it out, if you are not a fan. You can of course use, white flour instead of wheat flour. I love my cookies made with wheat flour, to me they have extra flavor.

You can add raisins if you like, and a variety of nuts. You could use chopped walnuts or pecans. You may want to make smaller cookies o freeze for the next holiday. I hope you'll enjoy this recipe! Please let me know what makes, your chocolate chips special. Some chunky recipes use, broken pieces of dark chocolate bars. This is in place of chocolate chips. This is a recipe you can customize - enjoy!!

Recipe

Ingredients:

COOKIES FOR CHOCOHOLICS

1 1/8 cup whole wheat flour

2 Tbsp. raw old fashioned oatmeal

1/4 cup chopped walnuts

1/2 cup dk. brown sugar

1/2 granulated sugar

1/2 tsp. salt

1/2 tsp baking soda

1 pkg. dark chocolate baking chips

1/4 cup chopped walnuts

1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

1/2 cup butter or margarine

1 egg

1 pkg. Hershey's Kisses

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix butter and sugars together. Mix flour, salt and baking soda. Blend the remaining ingredients all of these mixtures together, including the chocolate chips and nuts. You can make them thinner or thicker, by slightly increasing flour, nuts and chocolate. Set your blender on low or "cream". Lightly spray a cookie sheet, with Pam non-stick coating. Take a paper towel and, absorb the Pam, so that you cannot see it.

Drop cookie mix by full teaspoons, at least a inch apart. Five minutes after you have put them in the oven, place a half of a Hershey's kiss in the center of each cookie. Recipe yields, approximately two dozen. Place cookie on a cooling rack for fifteen minutes, enjoy with milk or ice cream. They are also good cold.
