Chocolate Fountains: The perfect party centerpiece

Updated on July 20, 2013

Want to make your party memorable?

Chocolate fountains have become a popular centerpiece at parties. Whether the party is a large reception, or just an intimate one at home for close friends, a chocolate fountain can provide the perfect dessert. I am a chocoholic and I will admit that I did attend on wedding reception primarily because I knew they were having one one their dessert table.

There are many chocolate fountains in the market today. I hope you will find this useful in making your selection between different brands, different sizes and different price ranges.

And remember, most chocolate fountains are very versatile and can be used for different types of flavorings as well. I can't imagine why anyone would want to use it for anything else - but I thought I should just mention it for completeness.

You can get one for under $50!

Yes, I am serious. This does not have to be a high ticket item which makes it a great gift (how about a wedding gift if you don't like anything that is left on the gift registry?)

At the time of writing this, this is just $35 and although it is a bit noisy, it works well and is pretty easy to clean.

The first Chocolate Fountain was produced in 1991 by the company, Design & Realisation.

If you want something that is a little classier - Here is one that comes in under $100

Sephra fountains are named after the goddess who ostensibly created the first chocolate fountain according to Aztec legend.

Nice and quiet this one can take up to 6 pounds of chocolate. So perfect for a bigger party.

Other sauces to use in a fountain:

Caramel, cheese, maple syrup, ranch dressing, and BBQ sauce.

Home Chocolate Fountains on eBay

eBay is a place where you might get a fountain at a real steal. Check it out before spending more money elsewhere. I know some people are scared to buy from eBay but I have bought from many different sellers and never had any problems.

Commercial Chocolate Fountain

If you need one for a catering business, or want to start a business renting out chocolate fountains, these are the ones most highly rated by customers. This could be a great way for a college student or stay at home mom to make a little extra money.

Again, I would go for Sephra as the company specializes in fountains. They are so sure their product is good that they offer a limited lifetime guarantee on them. That sort of thing always impresses me.

These fountains are for parties of 200+ people. If you just need one for a neighborhood party, this is overkill. Get a smaller non-commercial one.

So, are you going to buy a chocolate fountain? Which one?
