Make a personalized chocolate gift

Who doesn't simply love chocolate? This is one of my very favorite gifts to send to my friends. I've done this so many times and it's always been so appreciated. Isn't chocolate always appreciated?

It's easy to assemble a perfectly tailor-made gift basket and the wonderful thing about this gift is that you can be sure that the recipient will love every item.

By making your own selections, you'll be sure that you include the treats that will truly be appreciated. What's more, a yummy choccy gift basket is suitable for every occasion.

Gift baskets are very popular and it's easy to see why - they are so easy to order. We sometimes get them as gifts but we're vegetarian and we often find that, when we receive a gift basket, it has something or other that we don't eat.

That's not a problem exclusive to vegetarians though so it's only by tailor making your gift basket that you can be sure that everything will be truly enjoyed. The personalized gift basket you create can include other goodies too and be sure that there's something - maybe the basket itself - that the recipient will keep so that they'll always be reminded of your thoughtful gift.

CHOOSE A COLOR SCHEME

It's a good idea to select a color scheme before you start to assemble the contents. This way, you can choose products that follow your color scheme and be sure that your gift is attractive as well as tasty!

CHOOSE A THEME

Of course, the theme is chocolate! But it's nice to go one step further. For example, the most successful gift basket I have ever made is a hot chocolate gifts basket. (And don't worry if your recipient lives in a warm climate - we do and we love it - it's a wonderful treat!)

The super-stylish glasses you see below are often my starting point when I'm assembling a gift basket - anything that has to do with drinks or beverages deserves these fine and great-looking glasses. These are tremendous.

The best glasses for hot and cold beverages

Aren't these beautiful? That's not all though. Because these glasses have a double wall - you can see it in the photograph - this means that your drink is insulated.

Your hot drink stays warm. These have the same effect on cold drinks too - when the weather is warm, your cold drink stays cold and helps to stop the ice from melting. They are also great for serving desserts such as ice cream sundaes. All this and yet they are still one of the most stylish-looking glasses available

A HOT chocolate gift basket

One of the most successful gift baskets I ever made was the hot chocolate version. I chose red and white as my preferred color scheme. Once I had the container I added delicious bars and candies. Then had fun choosing a mug and a hot drinks maker.See some ideas below.

Great items for your gift basket

Polka dots seem to make everyone smile. There's something happy about them. Is it that they remind us of our childhood? In addition to being a 'happy' look, they are also stylish when used for home décor. When you're creating your gift basket, polka dots are a great idea simply because they are so cheerful and guaranteed to brighten the day.

Choose the basket or container

Although we usually refer to 'gift baskets' there's no rule that says that the container actually must be a basket! There are some wonderful examples available online.

Baskets are all very well but the ones supplied with commercial gift baskets can be a bit boring. Think of something different! Choose something that your recipient will be able to use year round once all the yummy chocolate goodness is gone.

Choose the goodies!

You'll have a lot of fun with this! One of the first considerations is whether your friend is vegetarian or vegan. Most candy products are suitable for vegetarians but if you're creating a gift basket for a vegan, remember that you'll have to avoid items which contains milk. This excludes most milk chocolates but dark versions should be fine. If in doubt, look for products that specify that they are suitable for vegans. If you can, check the ingredients list. Some manufacturers, who do make candies and bars without milk, don't specify this because the two different types are made in the same factory so cross 'contamination' can occur.

What could be more fun that choosing tasty treats? Only eating them! So both you and your recipient will be happy.

Make vegan chocolate and a lovely hot beverage

You'll need:

  • One cup of cocoa butter
  • Half cup of cocoa powder
  • Half cup of the sweetener of your choice (such as maple syrup)
  • A pinch of salt

In a double boiler, or over an extremely low heat, melt the cocoa butter. I use a stainless steel mixing bowl over a pan of hot water. Add the cocoa powder, a pinch of salt and the sweetener. You may need to whisk this. Drop spoonfuls of the mixure onto a tray lined with parchment paper and freeze until set. This makes about a dozen chocolates.Enjoy as they are or...

MAKE VEGAN HOT CHOCOLATE

To make hot a lovely hot drink, simply add one of the chocolates above to a mug of the warm vegan milk of your choice and stir.

@blanchella: I think that they are bound to please everyone don't you? I honestly don't know anyone who would enjoy these. And of course, they can be tailored for different diets. There are specialist foods for diabetics for example and it would be such a treat.

These suggestions sound delicious! I just had some flourless vegan brownies that were made by a friend and I couldn't believe how much more pronounced the chocolate flavor was.
