Decorate Your Cupcakes With Cricut Cake!

Updated on January 17, 2013

Have You Seen The New Cricut Cake Yet?

I'm sooooo excited about the new Cricut Cake machine coming out! I'm a huge Cricut fan, and I already own the Cricut Expression for scrapbooking, and I use it all the time to make paper cupcake toppers.

The exciting thing about Cricut Cake is it cuts fondant, to make edible decorations for your cakes and cupcakes! How exciting is that!

More about 'Decorate Your Cupcakes With Cricut Cake!'

This new Cricut machine is specifically designed for decorating cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and other confections. According to the demo it can also cut other foods of about the same consistency as fondant, such as tortillas, and some cheeses if they're sliced thin enough. That opens up tons of possibilities for fun food!

Cricut Cake is specially designed with food-safe materials for cake decorating and food needs. It has food-safe tools and accessories. It doesn't have the cracks and crevices that the original Cricut has. Everything is sealed off so food can't get into it.

Cricut Cake Question and Answer

I've been trolling the search results and the message boards to find answers to some of the questions I have about Cricut Cake. I thought I'd post some of them here as I find them.

1. Can you use Cricut Expression cartridges for Cricut Cake? Yes it appears you can use the same cartridges, but the cartridges that are created specifically for Cricut Cake will work better, because they're more basic, with fewer edges and points, which will be better for cutting fondant and gumpaste. With that said, you can use the regular Cricut cartridges, especially if you pick out basic designs and shapes.

2. Can you use Cricut Design Studio with the new Cricut Cake? Yes you can! This is one great selling point for me! I love creating my own designs to cut out for scrapbooking, and I would love to be able to cut out my own designs with the Cricut Cake, so I was super excited to hear you can use the software.

If you own a Cricut Cake Machine I'd love to hear your experiences so far. If you don't have one yet, are you thinking about investing in one? I'd love to hear what you think either way.

Fun idea. But it would be better using paper - so no calories.

I've seen the cricut cake on Amazon but haven't seen one in real life. I like the idea but I'm not so sure I would ever use one myself but I'm not really into decorating cakes. Great, informative lens!

I do many, many cakes and cupcakes for family, friends, bake sales and auctions. This machine is going to bring my work to the next level. No more trying to cut with an exacto knife, no more wishing for that perfect cookie cutter to cut the gumpaste or fondant or trying to cut out letters and numbers. I think the filigree and lace cuts will be the most impressive. The machine is easy to use and the results are fantastic. I'm so glad I bought it!
