cucumbers are a super fruit

The purpose of this hub is to let my readers know that cucumbers are a super fruit that have many benefits.

Not only dietary benefits, there are many safe practical applications.

Cucumbers are loaded with vitamins - I consider them a super fruit because one cucumber has B1,B2,B3,B5,B6,folic acid, calcium, phosphorus, iron, vitamin C,magnesium, zinc and potassium.

The best part is a cucumber has zero calories.

They make a healthy snack that will provide a boost of energy similar to a cup of coffee or soda.

That is because they are loaded with carbohydrates and B vitamins so a single cucumber will give you energy for several hours.

To prevent suffering from a hangover, grab a cucumber before bedtime.

They contain enough B vitamins and electrolytes to replace nutrients your body has lost.

This keep you from having that awful headache from a hangover.

They also have a benefit that will help you to lose weight, they are filling and have no calories

A single cucumber will stop cravings for food.

Other benefits of Cucumbers

If you are having problems with bugs in your garden, slice up a cucumber and place it in a aluminum pie tin.

The aluminum combined with cucumber will put off a scent that humans cannot detect but acts as a natural pesticide by repelling insects.

It works, I have them in my garden now,if they weren't there the green horned worms and bugs would eat my garden up

Tired of your bathroom mirror fogging up? rub slices of cucumber on the mirror.

It will eliminate the fog on the mirror and leave a soothing smell in the air just like a spa.

This works on your eyeglasses too,try it you will like it.

If you have wrinkles or cellulite, rub cucumber slices for several minutes on the area you want to tighten or firm.

The phytochemicals in cucumbers cause the collagen in your skin to tighten

It firms the outer layer of skin and reduces the visibility of cellulite.

If you have puffy eyes, put a slice of cucumber over each eye and leave it for around 10 minutes, it will reduce the puffiness under your eyes.

If you have bad breath and do not have access to a toothbrush put a slice of cucumber in the roof of your mouth for 30 seconds, it will kill the bacteria in your mouth and eliminate any odor.

If you are writing with a ink pen and make a mistake, rub it with the skin of a cucumber and the ink will magically disappear.

They also work great removing crayon and marker marks from your walls.

If you have a squeaky hinge rub a cucumber on the hinge and it will lubricate it,therefore solving your problem.

Looking for a natural cleaner for your bathroom or kitchen sink?

Rub a cucumber over the area you want to clean or polish.

It will not leave a streak and has no harmful chemicals like many modern cleaners.

If you want a stress free, aromatic smelling home.

Boil some cucumbers, they will release a unique aroma that has been shown to reduce stress.

Try it, your house will sell like a spa.

Try using cucumbers to polish your dress shoes.

Not only will they make your shoes shine but they also provide the extra benefit of repelling water.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my hub about cucumbers and I look forward to reading your comment below.

As always - God Bless Us All

"They make a healthy snack that will provide a boost of energy similar to a cup of coffee" - Interesting comparison. I have never thought about cucumbers as energy boosters.

"A single cucumber will stop cravings for food."- Hmm ... I guess this could be used as a means to lose weight maybe ...? In which case I should not eat any, I have no fat to lose (lol).

"They also work great removing crayon and marker marks from your walls."- Haha!! I will remember this if I ever decide to have kids.

"Not only will they make your shoes shine but they also provide the extra benefit of repelling water." - This is very interesting! Could I swim better if I rubbed myself with cucumbers? (Not being funny here, just curious.)

Thank You for sharing all this great information about cucumbers. Quite impressive, in my opinion. Will share!

    All the best!

Thanks manthy - That is a welcome tip about slciing a cucumber and putting it into a pie tin to chase bugs away. I knew earlier that cucumber skins deter cockroaches, but that cucumber in the pie pan was a new one to me.

Great hub on cucumbers. I will have to try some of these things out for sure. When it comes to cucumbers, do you know how to stop the burps? If you slice them and sprinkle salt on them, and let them sit a while. Then rinse. This really helps!
