Cute Easter Cupcake Ideas

Until recently it did not occurred to me that cupcakes could have so beautiful Easter decoration. A few weeks ago I saw in a magazine Easter decorated cupcakes. I knew immediately that I have to make cupcakes and do Easter decoration. Since my creativity is not my strong side I search for cute Easter cupcake ideas.

Here in this lens I will present how I did cupcakes (for the first time and I am not a skilled baker!) with Easter decoration. This is a simple recipe so I believe that anyone can use it and do an Easter decoration.

Cupcakes are not just yummy treat but you can surprise your friends with Easter cupcakes. So grab an apron and start baking and decorating Easter cupcakes. It will be as much fun as dying Easter Eggs!

Ingredients for cupcakes

Basic cupcake recipe

Whether you are going to make Easter or any other cupcakes you need a (basic) recipe. I will use a basic vanilla cupcake recipe for about 18 cupcakes.

225 g butter

225g caster sugar

4 medium eggs

225g flour

½ tsp baking powder

2 tbsp milk

1 tsb vanilla extract

Before you move on instructions read some my tips.

Butter should be softened at room temperature.

Instead caster suger I prefer to use a natural brown sugar. So far I did not see any problem to mix butter and brown sugar instead white sugar. You will get a perfect blended cream.

For every baking "project" I use spelt flour. This wheat I found a few yers ago and gives some how unique taste to my desserts. I think this is a "secret" ingridient to all my desserts and people are supperised when they heard that i used splet flour. Usually I sift the spelt flour so that I get loos flour. I also use residues remaing in the sives.

Preheat the oven to 180C and then line trays for cupcake with enough cases.

In separate bowl add baking powder to the flour and just lightly stir the flour.

Then mix the butter and sugar together with an electric hand mixer until is well blended and creamy. Next you add the egg gradually, one at the time.

Add the vanilla extract.

Next add one third of flour and whisk. Repeat this procedure and each time add one third of flour. Repeat until you get pourable mixture

With spoon the fill the paper cases and bake for 25 minutes. The cupcakes should look golden. Cool cupcakes on a wire rack.

For Easter decoration you need frosting and white sugar paste. Again you need basic frosting recipe because the purpose is to glue your Easter decoration on the top of the cupcake. I will use cream cheese frosting.

50g butter

300g icing sugar

125 g cream cheese

flavoring of choice

food coloring of choice (optional)

First mix with the hand mixer butter and icing sugar together until you get light and creamy mixture.

Add a flavor and mix again.

Add the cream cheese and whisk until light and fluffy. But be careful that you do not over-beat the mixture.

400g white sugar paste

paste food coloring of choice

icing sugar

First divided sugar paste  into three equal pieces.

Dust the surface with icing sugar lightly then knead the sugar past.

Add color of choice and knead the coloring in evenly. Add more food color until you get the color you require.

Repeat this procedure for the other two pieces of sugar paste.

Final Easter cupcakes decoration

For decorating cupcakes you need large discs (or circles) to cover the top of cupcakes and strips or other different shapes.

First lightly dust the surface with icing sugar. Next take the colored sugar paste and roll out.

Then cut out discs large enough to cover the top of the cupcake.

The leftover knead together because you need for trims and ornaments.

Repeat this procedure for the other two pieces of sugar paste.

Coat thinly each cupcake with cheese cream on the top of each cupcake, take the disc and press onto the cupcake.

Roll out the remains of colored sugar paste and cut out strips or other shapes (with cutters). Then put them on the top of cupcake (disc).
