Deep Fried Twinkies | Make Your Own Twinkies

Deep Fried Twinkies are growing in popularity. Many fairs and carnivals are now serving their own recipe for deep fried Twinkies. Although they are not the healthiest choice, they are delicious. When eaten in moderation or on special occasions with friends and family, deep fried Twinkies are a wonderful party food.

Kids and adults love eating these awesome treats. Sprinkle with powdered sugar for a delicious sweet taste you will remember forever. There's nothing like deep fried Twinkies.

6 Twinkies, unwrapped

2 quarts vegetable oil for frying

1 large egg

1 cup milk

2 teaspoons vegetable oil

1 cup pancake mix

  1. 1. Heat oil in deep-fryer to 375 degrees F.
  2. 2. Whisk together the egg, milk, and 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil in a bowl until smooth.
  3. 3. Stir in the pancake mix until no dry lumps remain.
  4. 4. Dip the Twinkies into the batter one at a time
  5. 5. Carefully place into the hot frying oil.
  6. 6. Fry only 1 at a time to avoid overcrowding the deep fryer.
  7. 7. Cook until the slices are golden-brown, about 2 minutes.
  8. 8. Drain on a paper towel.
  9. 9. Sprinkle with confectioners (powdered) sugar.

      Deep fried twinkies actually don't sound too bad if you load it up with powdered sugar. Ho-Hos are next!

      John and I broke out the deep fryer a few months ago to make scottish eggs. Since we had it out, we fried about everything in the kitchen including a pickle, lettuce, a hot dog. Good thing the real dogs stayed clear.
