Does a chest freezer help save money on groceries?
Is a chest freezer a good choice for saving money on groceries?
Most people that I know have a chest freezer. We are thinking of purchasing a freezer to store items that we see at a very good price but have no room for in the refrigerator or freezer. Being coupon crazy shoppers, we are often discovering an item we could buy in large quantities for almost nothing. We were thinking about whether being able to freeze items would help us save money.
Please share with me how useful you find your chest freezer. Do you end up throwing items out that you don't use? What about a power failure? Have you ever lost a large quantity of valuable food due to a power outage?

I got the idea at Krogers
I was very tempted by a chest freezer just like this that was featured at my local Kroger store. Do you think that a freezer helps save money on groceries? Often, I find a very good buy on frozen food that I don't have room for in my side by side refrigerator. Do the savings offset the cost of running a freezer? Of course, a real coupon bargain hunter can find some pretty often deals in foods that can be frozen to extend the life past the expiration date.

Freezing your garden
It seems your garden all comes in at the same time, doesn't it? If you aren't comfortable canning, maybe freezing your produce is a good idea? I tried freezing my glut of zucchini (summer squash) without success. These books look like they might help!
