Easy Alfredo Sauce
The Way It Was Meant To Be
At the top of my list of favorite foods is this quick and easy Alfredo sauce that uses a few simple ingredients like whipping cream, garlic, and eggs.
It is the perfect compliment for your pasta of choice or can be thickened and used as a dipping sauce for pizza crust or bread sticks.
To say that this whipping cream based sauce is yummy is a mere understatement. It is not something you would want to eat every week but it is definitely a special treat.
Serve with warm garlic bread (because there is no such thing as too much garlic) and your favorite salad.
How To Make Alfredo Sauce
Having whipping cream as the main ingredient doesn't make this meal high on the list of healthy foods to eat. But it does fall in the realm of occasional treats worth splurging on.
* 8 - 10 oz of pasta (your choice)
* 1 egg
* 250 ml of whipping cream
* 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese
* Pinch of nutmeg
* 1/4 tsp basil
* Pinch of salt
* 1/8 tsp pepper (if from grater, if fine use less)
* 1 clove garlic
* 2 tsp of butter
I especially like using this sauce with fettuccini, rotini or fusilli noodles but the choice is yours also long as you have enough for four healthy servings. Begin cooking pasta of choice as directed on package.
With a whisk mix egg, whipping cream, Parmesan cheese, nutmeg, basil, salt, and pepper together. Set aside for later.
When pasta is almost ready to be drained sauté the clove of garlic in the butter in a small frying pan. Set aside to keep from burning. Drain pasta then return to same pot. Return pot to warm element that has been turned down to below medium. Add garlic butter and toss pasta until coated.
Whisk cream and cheese mixture to mix settled ingredients then quickly pour over the pasta which is still on heated element. Continue to toss pasta through sauce for the next five minutes. As the mixture heats up it will thicken into a lovely sauce. Don't stop tossing for full time. Divvy up into four portions and serve immediately with salad, side veggie and buns.
You want to have everything you are serving to be in the completed or almost completed stages before completing this recipe. This sauce is best served immediately when hot and fresh.
Warm up sliced chicken, or sauté your favorite veggies (broccoli or asparagus both work well) and toss them in before serving or decorate the top after you've added pasta and sauce to plate. The Parmesan cheese can be fresh or from a container.
