Me Having Fun Making Sushi At Home
I have written a little bit about my experiment of buying a sushi making kit about a year or so ago. Since then I have fallen in love with making sushi and have tried several great sushi recipes and found more then one favorite.
It is just to hard to choose just one, but really I like most sushi with shrimp, salmon, eel and cucumbers.
While I still have not got a handle on every sushi recipe I make or would like to make, I do have fun in the kitchen. One of these days I will try to start making my own sushi recipes, but for now I will share links to my favorite sushi recipes and my photos.
Favorite Fried Shrimp Sushi Recipes
Fried Shrimp Sushi
For my first sushi recipe I picked an easy one. I did not make everything myself but I did roll the sushi. I bought the fried shrimp from the bakery and the ginger was already pre-cut. The rice was my first major issue. I really did not think that the rice would take as long as it did.
So our dinner was really, really late. I planned for the sushi to take about an hour but without making the rice first, it took way longer then that.
(Side-note: I have actually made one other sushi roll when I first got my kit. I ended up using a recipe the kit came with and I forgot to take a picture. I blame it on the fact it was just so darn good I did not want to wait to eat it.)

Eel sushi was always a favorite of mine, due to never really seeing eel in local grocery store I really thought this dish was only in my menu when eating out. While I could not quality eel at my regular store, I was directly to a small oriental store. Since then eel dishes has been a favorite of mine. Although it can be a bit pricey.

Salmon Philly Sushi Roll
Salmon Philly Sushi Roll: My First Raw Fish Sushi
I was a bit nervous of making sushi that had raw fish in it. I have eaten salmon sushi many times but I just never made it myself. I always just though I should leave the handling of raw fish to the pros.
I got over my fear buy buying sushi from store with someone that is experienced in raw fish and could tell me directly which fish to buy and what not to buy. I defiantly recommend getting to know the staff at the meat counter if you are a newbie at making sushi.

I ended up making this a few times. But I did not take a photo of it at first because I did not care for it when I used salmon that can from a foil pack. It just was not that good. The taste became a lot better when I added fresh never frozen salmon.
Cream Cheese Crab Sushi Roll
Cream Cheese Crab Sushi Roll: So Easy I Should Have Made This The First One
My youngest child even decided they like the crab sushi, they did not even attempt to taste the others. I like the crab sushi because it was fast. I already had the rice made up so it took just minutes to make.
While it was not my favorite I will make it again when I want sushi but just do not have a lot of time to use.

The only thing I did different from this recipe is that I prefer my rice on the outside. many recommend for newbies to start with rice on the inside but I have never tried that way nor did I have issues getting it the way I wanted because the sushi r
