As we all are living very busy lives, no longer do we plan as many meals as we used to.  After a long week, my wife and have deemed Friday our "take out" night as far as dinners go.  We have a few favorites, but our favorite, is a few taco trucks here in town.

This may sound strange but I honestly can't remember the last time I had a take out (takeaway, we call it in the UK) dinner of any description. You've now got me craving one, at what is approaching 1am here! smile

Seriously, my professional life revolves around food and most nights I have to not only cook and eat my dinner but publish the preparation photographs and instructions as well. That tends to rule take out/takeaways out of the equation.

When I used to eat them, fish and chips was always number one choice. I also very much enjoyed Chinese and Indian takeaways. I am afraid I have to say that I have never once in my life tasted a Big Mac or anything else from McDonald's. I remember once having to eat a burger from Burger King due to complicated circumstances (stranded due to a broken down train and being starving with no alternatives) but I could only manage one bite, starving as I was... The rest went in a bin.

Will be interesting to see what others come up with!

Gordon, That's a very impressive resume having never eaten at McDonald's or any of the rest of those fast food places.  Have you seen the documentary "supersize me"?  It's quite a story about a man who almost died eating McDonalds for 30 days straight.  It's quite disgusting but hilarious at the same time.

Don't recall that particular documentary, Phil, but I have seen several similar. It's funny, you're right, but sad at the same time. I saw one a few weeks back (can't remember the name of it) about teenagers who are so overweight from junk food that they can't even move about unaided. What a waste of young lives...

Really good pizza is . . . .always an awesome thing.  Really good Chinese food. .. . .is equally awesome.  Everything I cook comes out tasting half way Tex Mex already, so I don't do take out Mexican.

I remember visiting my friend in New York City and she had a folder of takeout menus -- every conceivable kind of food and at least 2-3 choices for each kind!
We don't have anywhere near that variety where I live now.
But we do have nights when my husband and I both say, "I don't feel like cooking!"
Chinese can be delivered to the house -- so that's probably #1.
We also frequent Taco Bell (guilty pleasure) and more often than I like to admit, KFC.

usually Chinese or Thai. I wasn't feeling so great yesterday and earlier today, and ordered Chinese. We have an amazing Thai restaurant close by that also prepares take out. Sometimes it tastes better in front of a movie with a glass of wine.

Chinese has to be my favourite takeaway, closely followed by fish and chips.  Sometimes though I simply fancy chips with two fried eggs, baked beans and white bread and butter.

I usually settle for a little BK, McDonalds, or Taco bell. But, I would so like to stop for Chinese, and find a place that isn't going to attempt to rip me off. But, there really aren't that many Chinese places on the road. Except maybe Panda Express.

I once stopped at an all you can eat Chinese Buffet. I couldn't eat all of my food, so I asked for a to go container. They gave me the container, and I went up to the counter to pay for my meal, and the guy at the counter tried to charge me for two buffets!

I said whoa! I only had one buffet dude. He looks at me and say to go containers get charged buffet price. And, I said, well you just keep it then. I'm not paying $11.95 for half an egg roll, and a tiny bit of sesame chicken. I showed him what was in the container, and he still goes. $11.95.

I just said, take it and shove it. I never went back there.

My favorite take out meal is fish and chips. I grew up in Britain, and fish and chips with salt, vinegar and sauce (tomato or the brown HP sauce) was my family’s only takeaway meal, which we all loved. Now there’s a fish and chip shop near where I live in Canada, so I can still get my favorite take out meal!

fish and chips seems to be the "runaway" winner in the "take away" category!

I really try to save cost but most times it is pizza, fry chicken or chinese. These are the fastest.
