Updated on November 11, 2013

Top 10 Fun Cooking Gifts for Kids

I always liked helping out in the kitchen as a kid. I have fond memories of mixing up cake batter and shaking the shake-n-bake chicken! I had a kids cookbook that had a recipe for teddy bear pancakes...

Lots of kids like to cook, bake, and help out in the kitchen. With that in mind, I've picked out 10 gift ideas that are related to cooking. These ideas range from the silly to the serious, for young kids and older kids too. When possible I've noted the appropriate ages... which range from about 5 years old to 14 years old.

If you are buying a Christmas gift for a kid who loves to cook, I'm sure you'll get a good idea here! Cooking related gifts can be a lot of fun!

When I first saw this, I thought, a video game for playing chef? I never had that as a kid...

Now that I've read the reviews and thought about it, I can see that playing a game that involves making recipes can be a real learning experience. No sharp knifes or hot stove to watch out for.... This game can teach kids about cooking, and keep them entertained, when parents are too busy to watch over them in the kitchen.

The reviews indicate that this game is appropriate for kids between the ages 5-10. And possibly younger/older, depending on maturity and interest.

This is a child's version of the classic Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook. If this cookbook has a downfall, it could be that it's too easy. If your child is already able to read adult cookbooks, then this cookbook is too young for him/her. However, there are lots of other great cookbooks to choose from.
