Greenest Mixers Around
I am not a fan of the color green or any bright color for the kitchen. This may come from growing up before bright colors were used a lot for small appliances. I am debating different colors to add and I want to get a mixer. I am a far cry from a cook and when I say I need a mixer it is for making creamy mashed potatoes. When I was young the only way to get creamy mashed potatoes was with a hand masher and some elbow grease. I had myself convinced that the only way you can get this creamy comfort food was with the hand masher. As I am getting older I find that the ease of using a mixer far out weighs the need to muscle through the hand mashing.

I still like to make the occasional batch of ' whipped potatoes ' the old fashion way. I am not sure that using a hand masher is better but the one thing you can count on is the ability to have some good ole lumpy potatoes.
This is unique, the flat masher part folds.
I find this hand masher to be the best. I have used both the waffle type and this style. I found this to be my favorite. This has a great grip handle that is a must.
Get the kids in on the kitchen duty with this fun masher.
This comes in handy when making Avocado dip for the big game.
I love hard boiled eggs and make deviled eggs a lot. This is a handy tool for mashing them
Easy to Make Whipped Potatoes Recipie
Making homemade whipped potatoes, a/k/a mashed potatoes even when done with a mixer. I used to worry about the time I boiled my potatoes but it is no longer a problem because the mixer takes all the work out of making sure they are creamy. If you want the potatoes done sooner cut them into smaller pieces, the smaller the pieces the less time it takes to boil them.
This is for two people
6 small or 4 big potatoes - any kind will do
1/8 to 1/2 stick butter - the amount is up to you. You can use margarine or I Can't Believe It's Not Butter, real butter tastes best :)
1 tablespoon salt
1/4 medium onion sliced thin
1/4 cup or more milk - If I am out of milk I mix together some Creamer and water to substitute.
Peel the potatoes and cube them. Use enough water to cover the potatoes.
Add 1 tablespoon salt and onion over top of potatoes and boil for 20 minutes.
Boil on high, when water comes to full boil turn the heat down to medium high to prevent boiling over.
Use a lid or strainer to strain the water off the potatoes.
I use a lid and then whip the potatoes in the pot.
Add butter and some salt to taste. I usually add a few shakes of pepper or turns from the pepper grinder.
You will want to add milk slowly until you get the texture you want, the more milk the creamier but you don't want them to get watery.
Pretty Perfect Electric Mixer
KitchenAid KHM5APGA Green Apple 5 Speed Ultra Power Hand Mixe
This is a nice bright green and perfect for what I am looking for. A simple hand held mixer and a very common appliance. It has a 5 speeds with single touch slide to move easily between speeds. I love the swivel cord because it makes tasks much easier. A plus are the attachments and I know which one I will be using. The milkshake attachment but who know when I might need the doe hooks. The best part of this is the 4 and 1/2 star customer rating.
KitchenAid Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer
I love the apple green color of this mixer. If you use a mixer for more than just simple things like potatoes and drinks you are not alone. This mixer should be plenty for the at home baker and fan of good cuisine. I really like the stainless steel bowl instead of a glass bowl and the sturdy make along with the bright color is a perfect addition to a kitchen with a green theme. Looking at this has added one more problem, is green the color I really want to go with ? This mixer comes in over a dozen colors and one is prettier than the other. Of course there is alway stainless steel or black. I am trying to get away from the simple colors and add some pop to my kitchen so those two are out.
