Healthy and Easy Breakfast Ideas

Updated on September 6, 2014

Breakfast, the most important meal of the day! A lot of us are so busy in the mornings getting ready for work, we tend to skip breakfast or stop for hash browns from McDonald's on the way. Fast food is terrible for your body, and skipping breakfast is even worse. Eating breakfast gets your metabolism going and fuels your body for the day. These breakfasts are not only healthy for you, but they're also delicious and don't take more than five minutes to make!

Strawberry Almond Butter Soup

If you're a strawberry lover, then this is the soup for you. This creamy soup will soothe your sweet tooth. I recently added graham crackers to make it even that much more yummy!

Blend

3 1/2 cups strawberries
1/4 cup almond milk
2 tbsp. almond butter
2 tbsp. agave

Garnish

Crushed graham crackers

Banana Quesadilla

This is my personal favorite on the list. It takes about one minute to make and is absolutely delicious! I know the thought of using whole wheat tortilla shells doesn't seem very appealling to some people. However, they save you so many calories and have protein in them. And I promise you, you cannot taste the difference between whole wheat tortilla shells and regular shells.

Spread on whole wheat tortilla shell:
Mashed or cut up banana
Nutella

Put other tortilla shell on top
Put in microwave for 20 sec

Whole Wheat Bread

Now of course, whole wheat bread by itself would be boring. So why not top it with healthy food? Here are some of my personal favorite things to top bread with:

  • yogurt, blueberries, & cinnamon
  • peanut butter and sliced strawberries
  • eggs and cayanne pepper

Healthy Cereal

So basically, I am pretty much obsessed with cereal. Quite honestly, I could eat it for every meal of the day. Unfortunately, Fruity Pebbles and Frosted Flakes contain such a high amount of sugar that they aren't the healthiest things you could be eating. Why not just eat healthy cereal instead? These cereals not only taste good, but also contain vitamins and nutrients your body needs. Use almond milk or no fat milk to keep the calories low!

  • Fiber One Caramel Delight
  • Raisin Bran Extra
  • Cheerios
  • Honey Bunches of Oats
  • Any Special K cereal

Strawberry Breakfast Smoothie

This smoothie is also on my other post, 5 Healthy Smoothies You Have to Try . I added it to this list as well because it tastes so good in the morning and is perfect for waking you up.

Blend together

1 cup almond milk
1/2 cup rolled oats
1 banana
14 frozen strawberries
1 1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Breakfast Burritos

Are you a Mexican lover but always feel guilty after eating it? After gulping down a big Mexican meal, my body always feels disgusting. But Mexican food is so delicious, it's hard to stay away from. These breakfast burritos will fill your Mexican cravings without all of the calories!

Ingredients

  • 2 egg whites
  • 2 whole wheat tortillas
  • 1/4 cup rinsed canned beans (pinto or black)
  • 1/4 cup fat free cheese
  • Salsa (optional)

Directions

  • Cook egg whites
  • Put egg whites, cheese, and beans on tortilla shell
  • Put shell in microwave for one minute
  • Roll burrito
  • Top with salsa

Fruit Parfait

Yet another idea that is for all you sweet lovers. Get some yogurt, fruit of your choice, and throw some granola in there. Make the yogurt Greek yogurt for a lot of extra protein!
