I use flour, any brand, and add to the beef whilst it is frying. Afterwards adding liquid slowly whilst off the heat and stirring well prevents lumps forming

  • writerkath 4 years ago

We pretty much use ordinary flour...

  • anonymous 4 years ago

Yes definitely it sounds lovely. I make a beef and vegetable stew with plum. I use my homemade slightly tart plum jam. I'm going to give your recipe a crack just for a different flavored stew. For a change.

Very similar to my own beef stew recipe, but I always fry the onions before adding other ingredients. Beef stew is one of my favourite meals. And when I make it I always make enough to last for three days. The icing on the cake is the suet dumplings which I call upon my wife to make for me.

Sounds like great food for a rainy day. Beef stew also reminds me of my childhood when beef stew always came on a Monday after Sunday lunch to make sure nothing got wasted.

Sounds like a very warming winter meal, perfect for today's Melbourne weather - it's only going to get to 14C and it's raining! :-)
