My Homemade Lemonade Recipe is a fabulous summertime drink recipe and it is extremely easy to make.

I have shared this recipe with friends more times than I can remember.  Since I grew up making lemonade, it always surprises me when someone asks for my recipe, simply because it is a cool drink that I make out of habit.  However, once I realized others needed a Lemonade recipe, I started paying closer attention to what I was doing so I could give actual measurements for a lemonade recipe to my friends.

I do make and serve my fresh lemonade recipe in a glass pitcher.  I honestly do believe it makes a difference!

Ingredients

  • 6 or 7 Fresh Lemons (enough to squeeze 1 Cup of Lemon Juice)
  • 1 Cup of Sugar
  • 6 1/2 Cups of Water

Instructions

  1. Squeeze the Juice from the Lemons and pour into pitcher
  2. Add Sugar
  3. Add Water
  4. Stir together

Glass really is the very best product to use when squeezing lemons.

For Strawberry Lemonade:  Simply puree a pint of strawberries in the blender and add to the lemonade recipe above.

Note:  If fresh lemons are not available, Realemon can be used as a substitute juice.

Fresh juice, especially citrus juices, tastes better when stored and served in glass.

It really is that simple!

I enjoyed real lemonade this morning, but didn't make it myself, so thank you for sharing your recipe and also for the interesting strawberry addition.

Homemade lemonade is the best. And yes I've tried it with pureed strawberries before too, and that is great! One tip I do, is I add warm water to the sugar to dissolve it, then add the lemons and cold water to the remaining mixture.

I always thought lemonade would be harder to make than that. I would like to make some and maybe add some fresh ginger to it to give it a zing.

Just what I needed to know - the lemon tree is full of lemons, and they need to be used. Wonder if this would work with limes too? My lime tree is still growing though. :-)

@snowy12: Oh, yes! Most definitely! I refrigerate my lemonade for several days. It should stay good in the refrigerator for 5 - 7 days. Frankly, that depends on how old the lemons were when you first squeezed them. Sadly, we most often do not know the age of store bought lemons.

Can I put the lemonade in the fridge? If yes, how long can I keep it in the fridge?

Can't remember the last time I had fresh squeezed lemonade. I could use a glass of this summer delight at this very moment. Of course, it always tastes best when sipping it with a friend, on a porch, in a swing. Glad you shared your recipe.

Yes, Cynthia, your recipe for lemonade sounds about right for how I used to make it. I would die if I drank all that sweetness now. I make my lemonade without suger now. I have for years and much prefer it that way. And, oh yes, only glass for pitchers and drinkware in my house.

I love lemonade. It's something we used to make when I was young, but haven't made it for years. Maybe this is the nudge I need to do it. Oh, and I agree lemonade should be served in a glass pitcher, with glass glasses, none of that plastic stuff. It just tastes better to me. Thanks for sharing.
