Coffee - Tea - Hot Chocolate - Apple Cider : Hot Beverage and Drink Dispensers

Updated on April 28, 2012

Serve Up the Heat - with class!

This page will show you many options for hot beverage dispensers. You can impress your guests with the most beautiful beverage dispensers. Many are ornate and elegant, while others are more modern or simply functional. You do not want to be stuck with your simple coffee percolator pot at your next party. Think ahead and treat yourself to something nice.

Coffee, Hot Chocolate, Tea ...Even Hot Apple Cider!

Whatever your guests like ...

If you are having a party, wedding, family reunion, picnic, church gathering, or any type of event, you are likely gonna have a crowd that is gonna want to eat (and drink !). You will likely be wanting to satisfy these people with Hot and Cold beverages.

When it comes to serving the hot drinks, they are not as easily displayed as the cold drinks because you can't just drop in ice to keep them cold. You need to think about how you want to present them as well as functionally keep them hot.

Some events require elegance as well as others just need a ton of drink.

I like to have mine served up with class. If you are looking for a way to serve up yours - there are many options :

Modern Hot Beverage Dispensers

These are common ways to dispense your Coffee, Tea and Hot Chocolate. They are simple, affordable, and nice looking options.

Serving Beverages at Big Parties - Coffee Urns serve a crowd!

If you have big parties, or just want to be prepared for a crowd then you will want something larger.

You can impress your guests with something nice, and be sure to have enough to go around with a coffee urn.

Churches always need a big urn, as do people that entertain regularly. You can choose something simple and functional, or elegant and ornate. Either way, a traditional coffee urn will hold enough hot beverage to serve the crowd. I have even seen these in up-class stores to serve their customers throughout the day.

You can use them for Coffee, Tea, Hot Chocolate, or even Hot Apple Cider Etc... Anything that is Hot.

You may choose to get one large urn for the most popular beverage and smaller pitchers for less popular drinks that you might be serving, or you can get a set of 3 matching urns - your choice!

Elegant Coffee Urn

This is a way to wow the crowd.

If you are having gatherings with a group that you want to impress - this is a sure way.

Reed & Barton Sheffield Collection 25-Cup Silverplated Burgundy Coffee Urn
Reed & Barton Sheffield Collection 25-Cup Silverplated Burgundy Coffee Urn

This is the most beautiful of coffee urns. I love serving hot chocolate on a cold night party with this one. I still get comments on it's beauty - even from people that have seen it before.

It holds a good 20-25 cups, so it is big enough for a decent crowd, although not too huge for a smaller one.

Sometimes I fill it a little over half way and it works great for the girls night out. Elegance at its best ! It really does give a beautiful feel to our tea parties...

It looks so impressive, that at a potluck you can bring inexpensive coffee or hot chocolate, and look quite good to your peers ...

Airpot / Thermos with Pump on Top

These pump on top thermos type dispensers have become pretty popular. They are easily portable and keep drinks quite hot for some time. Here are several of the most popular ones.

Again, you may choose to get more than one so you can serve up different choices to your guests - they are often seen together in groups at events. I suggest getting 2-3 of the same ones, so they look nice together, and are available for various choices or for switching out when they are empty.

These do not hold as much as the coffee urns though, so be prepared to refill as needed if you have a large crowd.

Single Cup Servings

The popular Keurig started a big trend - you can get single cups of coffee made on the spot - with different kinds and different flavors - including tea, hot chocolate, decaf, and flavored coffees and teas. The separate pods can be popped in to coffee maker and with the touch of a button, fresh hot beverages are made in seconds ! This is the easiest way to please a crowd with one device. There are now more options besides Keurig. Here are a few suggestions :

K-Cups - For Keurig Brewers

Here is a VERY SMALL list of the tons of hot beverages available in pods for the Keurig and other single serve brewers.

There are also refillable cups so you do not have to buy the prepacked cups for your every day drinking habits, although they do make for nice display and offerings at parties (especially served up in the carousel above). You can also get disposable pods that you fill yourself as well, which are a bit cheaper as well - and allow you to drink your favorite beverage if it is not available prepacked for your device.

The Mini Keruig

Keurig 35 B30 Mini Personal Single-Serve Brewing System, Black
Keurig 35 B30 Mini Personal Single-Serve Brewing System, Black

This one will not be the best for a crowd - but for your own kitchen - especially if you live alone or are the only one that drinks hot drinks ...

It uses the same technology as the big one, but is small enough for office, or home.

Would not be great for the crowds though, as it would require adding water a million times ...

Hot Drinks served in Coolers with Spouts!

There is always the functional, large crowd drink dispensing coolers. These will hold enough to serve a large crowd, but also be easy to store and tote.

They are the traditional picnic looking coolers. They would not be appropriate at a wedding or high class function, but would certainly do fine at a backyard BBQ or large family function.

They will hold a hot drink hot for about 4-6 hours. - Great for Hot Chocolate on a cold night by the campfire !

Twin Beverage Cooler With Dispenser

Coffee on one side and Hot Chocolate on the other :O) My Fav!

Quite inexpensive and easy to tote. Holds over a gallon of drink.

simple, functional option that will surely be used time and time again!

Wyndham House S.S Beverage Cooler /Dispenser

Similar to the cooler above, but cooler looking ! Keep your Cold Cold - or your Hot Hot ! Your guest will love this one.

Do you have a Hot Beverage Dispenser?

They don't make them like they used to

These are vintage coffee urns - they are much more ornate than the ones you can purchase now - and often you can find them more affordable too.

Here is a great recipe to make Hot Apple Cider - You, of course, can buy it done, and just warm it- but if you take a little time, you can make it way better !

Prep time: 8 min
Cook time: 5 min
Ready in: 13 min
Yields: 8 (3/4 cup servings)

  • 6 cups of store bought apple cider (from orchard is best - but grocery store will do)
  • 1/4 cup of maple syrup (most orchards sell that too ...) - Real Maple Syrup
  • not "pancake syrup"
  • 2 -3 Cinnamon Sticks (fresher is better) - Can substitute 1Tsp of Powder
  • 5 -6 Whole Cloves
  • 1/2 Tsp All Spice Powder (or 4 whole berries) - Can also substitue Nutmeg
  • Diced very small - 1/2 McIntosh Apple (can also just slice thin and float if in beautiful dispeser for beauty too)
  • Citrus Zest (Peel) from 1/2 Orange and/or 1/2 Lemon - (colored part only
  • not the white) sliced into very thin strips - Can also used jar "zest" (orange or lemon)

  1. You can cook on stove top, or heat directly in crock pot etc.
  2. Mix the cider and syrup together with either method
  3. If using whole foods, not powders:
  4. Place all other items in washed square of cheesecloth, tied with kitchen string - kind of like a home made tea bag, so you can simmer with these items, but then remove. If you do not have cheesecloth, you can cook with everything right in there and strain before serving.
  5. if using powders, just toss it all in and warm it up!
  6. Should cook on stove top for 5-10 minutes on medium heat, but do not boil.
  7. Can also use crockpot to simmer. - teabag method suggested to avoid getting those large pieces in drink ...
  8. Serve in 3/4 to 1 cup portions with Cinnamon Stick for presentation and stirring :O) ENJOY

Having just One Party or Event - Try Renting the Hot Drink Dispenser You Want or Need!

If you are planning on having just this one party or one event, and you are trying to find a way to serve up the hot drinks - you can invest in one of the above (and I would suggest the cooler type as you are more likely to use it again) - or you could rent one.

There are many places that rent the large urns. Some places rent the nice ornate looking ones, and others rent the big more industrial type. Either way if you know you will only use it once, you might want to consider the available rentals.

Below are some rental places, but I would google "coffee urn rental" and "your city" so you get something local.

Also, though, keep in mind, that some of the above options are not that expensive, and if they end up being half of what it costs to rent one, you might want to just purchase one so you have it for any future events. I love having mine :O) I don't use it super often, but when I pull out my beautiful coffee dispenser, my guests always are impressed :O) I love that feeling.

The Most Important Thing ...

Be sure to get what you want - and be sure it is what you need.

If your spending $$$ on a dispenser, be sure it will serve the crowd you have in mind, and be sure it is something that you will be proud to serve up at your next party. Be sure that you do not cheat yourself and get something you will wish you didn't have later. You like will not be wanting to buy another any time soon ...

The elegant coffee urn looks great, it's ornate and keeps the drink warm. I've seen some that hang over flames which I'd love to have.

That coffee urn in the intro is gorgeous and would be wonderful for so many events. Oddly I had never thought of putting hot beverages in a cooler type dispenser but it sure does make sense and would be great for thinks like hot apple cider, hot chocolate, coffee, tea or what ever hot beverages you can think of.

These are wonderful! I use multiple carafes and dispensers during the holidays when we have a lot of company. However, for day to day use, I absolutely love my Keurig k-cup coffee maker.
