Ice Cream - My Favorite Dessert Ideas

Ice cream has to be my favorite dessert and it's not just a summer treat. Though as a child, I thought of it as a very special treat reserved for special occasions. There are so many fond memories of lazy afternoons in the summer at our local ice cream place. I'll bet you have some fond memories of times where you shared a cone or an ice cream with someone special.

I know that my grandkids love those ice cream cakes that come on birthdays and special occasions. But guess what? You can make your own ice cream desserts that you family and friends will absolutely love.

Over the years I have collected some favorite recipes and memories of my love of ice cream. Now I am sharing them and hope that you will share some of yours as well !

July Is National Ice Cream Month

President Regan declared July of every year to be National Ice Cream Month. To be even more specific, July 15th is National Ice Cream Day ! Ice cream makes us happy and gives a smile when we eat it ! It bringas us back to the sunny days of summer, even in December !

So let's celebrate with a huge dish, a sundae or a banana split !

Imagine taking large balls of your favorite ice cream and freezing them for about two hours. Then coating them with corn flakes, coconut, some walnuts or a combination of these. My Favorite Ice Cream

When asked on a birthday or special occasion what ice cream treat I would like, for me it was always cherry vanilla and Breyer's Ice cream was always my favorite

Thus bread is so easy to make ! And it is terrific with a cup of coffee. Make up a loaf, slice and serve with a scoop of your favorite ice cream ! You now have a great dessert !

Cook time: 1 hour
Ready in: 1 hour
Yields: Depends On The Slices You Cut

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of your favorite ice cream softened
  • 1 1/2 cup of self rising flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour an 8Ã4 inch loaf pan. Mix the ice cream and flour together in a bowl just until combined. Smooth it out so it looks even. Bake for 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool for a while and then serve.

No Bake Ice Cream Cake - Easy to make dessert or birthday cake

If your family loves the taste of a Carvel ice cream cake, then you will love this dessert ! It's easy to make and who does not like oreo ice cream?

Cook Time

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Serves: 6-8 servings

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cups hot fudge ice cream sauce warmed
  • 1 tub (8oz) Cool Whip topping
  • thawed and divided
  • 1 pkg. (3.9 oz.) JELL-O Chocolate Instant Pudding
  • 16 OREO Cookies
  • chopped-about 2 cups divided
  • 12 vanilla ice cream sandwiches

Instructions

  1. WHISK fudge topping and 1 cup COOL WHIP in medium bowl until blended. Add dry pudding
  2. ARRANGE 4 ice cream sandwiches, side-by-side, on 24-inch-long piece of foil; cover with half the COOL WHIP mixture. Repeat layers. Top with remaining sandwiches. Frost with remaining COOL WHIP; press remaining cookies into top and sides of dessert. Wrap loosely with foil.
  3. FREEZE 4 hours

Let ice cream or sorbet stand about 20 minutes before using it in a dessert recipe. It will be much easier to work with

Easy To Make Ice Cream Treats

You just use your favorite brand of ice cream to make these special treats ! Great desserts for special occasions

Let the dessert stand at room temperature for 10-15 minutes before serving or slicing to make it easier to serve. The flavors will be more pronounced and the dessert isn't frozen solid when it's eaten.
