Set up your decorations the night before the party.

Transform your backyard or patio into an Italian bistro. Hang red, white and green streamers, use small Italy flags for place cards and drape the tables with red, white, and green tableclothes.

Place bowls of grapes on the tables for centerpieces and hang posters, or magazine cut outs, of Italy on the walls. If you have an Italy flag, hang it in the front yard or on the front door.

What's an Italian party without red wine, right? So, have plenty of bottles of red wine handy. You can serve cappuccino, espresso or lattes to guests that don't drink alcohol. Have your drinks ready so that you can offer them to your guests as they arrive.

Italian Red Wine

1. Amarone - Dry with a low acid content.

2. Barbera - A light to medium bodied red that is a bit fruitier in flavor characteristics.

3. Barolo - These are the biggest and boldest of Italian reds.

4. Chianti - Arguably the most well known of the Italian wines.

5. Lambrusco - A sweet tasting Italian red. It's light bodied and fizzy.

6. Montepulciano - Medium bodied with dark red fruit flavors with slightly vegetal overtones.

7. Sangiovese - This red wine is more on the earthy side in flavor characteristics with medium tannins and high acidity.

8. Valpolicella - Dry red wine with low tannins. This wine is sometimes described as lean, meaning they are slightly lacking in fruit flavor characteristics.
