Where to find Kiwi restaurants and buy New Zealand favorite foods in USA

This lens gives New Zealand foodies in the USA and anyone else who has sampled our magificent and inventive range of fantastic meals a guide to places to eat out across America. Also included places to buy NZ food supplies from within the United States. This is a constant work in progress! Email me if you know of a restaurant or store that I should add,

From West to East - sort of!

In California

The New Zealander Restaurant & Pub in Alameda (1400 Webster St) . Great Pies, Lamb, lamb and lamb. NZ wine and beers. Rugby on TV. Live events. The New Zealander Click on their lively blog to see what's happening.

Nick's Cove Marshall CA. An hour north of the Golden Gate near Point Reyes. Not a kiwi place but masses of seafood cooked how we like it and a good range of NZ wines. Also has accommodation. Nick's Cove

San Diego has a very popular restaurant and bar frequented by many after the Rugby Seven games and always a good spoto for viewing NZ sports. Pretty good NZ beers and food - New Zealand Burgers their speciality but lots more too. Bare Back Grill

In Utah

In Mayna, there is the 'Kiwi Bakery'. 8963 West 2700 South. Mainly takeouts and bakery items but has a small dining area.

In New York

Nelson Blue: NZ Bar & Grill. Great menus, lots of seafood. Hosts NZ events, Rugby on the TV and other sports when rugby isn't! A stone's throw from the Brooklyn Bridge. Nelson Blue

The 'Public' is known to have a selection of Aussie and NZ food and wines on the menu including Hokey Pokey Ice Cream at times.

Public Restaurant

In Newark, there is the Kiwi Restaurant on Orange Ave but no website or anything to indicate that it actually has kiwi food. Ph (973) 374-8311

In Virginia

Cassatts Cafe. Arlington VA. Cozy, bistro-style cafe with NZ flair. Lamb on the menu and NZ wines. Specialty coffees and real NZ flat whites. Yum! Cassatt's Cafe

Down Under Bakery aka Dub Pies. The Storefront is called 'The Pie Shop'.In Brooklyn. They also deliver within 1 day UPS from NY and do door to door in the city. and do catering. Also sell the iconic sausage rolls. Going strong since 2003. Dub Pies

Astor Wines & Spirits. Usually has about 35 NZ wines from top of the line to family favorites. Available by the crate. Comprehensive website.

Kiwi'takewaway. In West Yellowstone with rave reviews. Takeout food but not fast food.. A Kiwi chef. and lots of good NZ fare.

Not only Marmite but also VEGEMITE. I buy it in 6 packs. They have a range of other products held especially dear by Australians but these two are the most important for us. Great Service and a small operation that deserves some business. If you order anything please tell them you found them on my Squidoo site. .Marmite Pantry

Piemakers 'The Pie press' available by pick up and local delivery and the Stonestown Market in San Francisco and working on expanding. Fantastic mouthwatering range of pies.

If you're missing Cadbury's or some teas, pickles and chutneys, there's a British chain that has three stores - and also sells online.

Likewise Cosentino's in San Jose sell Vegemite, British Cadbury's Crunchies. Cosentino's Markets

And Mangals in San Leandro have Griffin;s biscuits, Edmonds inlcuding Custard Powder, , Watties, DYC, lots of our lollies and lamb and venison. You can visit but they are primarily a phone order outfit. Mangals Market

      I saw you cuddling a big jar of Vegemite...have you heard about our terrible shortage of Marmite after the Christchurch earthquakes? Mind you I prefer Vegemite myself!

      How about Whittakers chocolate. It's by far the best, better than Cadburys now that it's made in Australia. The Dark Ghana is to die for nom nom
