Updated on May 14, 2015

Easy Waffle Recipes and Toppings

The one thing that I defintiely know about waffles is that they are yummy, delicious, crunchy goodness all wrapped together in one package. These easy recipes are the reason that I like making waffles, because they leave more time to enjoy sharing waffles with friends and family.

Not only are waffles fun to make, but there are many, many variations. Waffles range from sweet to savory and the ingredients and toppings make waffles fun to eat. There are so many things you can do with waffles!

Hope you find everything you need to make and enjoy waffles and more. And that's why I say "Let's Eat Waffles"!

Some Stuff About Waffles

The Great Waffle Takeover

Why the waffle is taking over the world!

The world has finally succumbed to the Great Waffle Takeover. Waffles are everywhere! It's no wonder that waffles are so popular. They have everything wrapped into one. They are chewy, crunchy, warm, comforting, yummy and delicious. Waffles are SPECIAL!

Frozen Waffles

Too Many Choices!

STEP into the frozen food aisle of the supermarket and you will see the Great Waffle Takeover firsthand... waffles, waffles and more waffles!

There are plain, buttermilk, low-fat, chocolate chip, cinnamon, blueberry, strawberry, mini waffles, homestyle, added fiber, all natural, gluten-free and who knows what other waffles are coming. There are so many waffles that it takes forever to make a selection. And who can possibly buy only one package? Someday there will be so many different kinds of waffles that there will be "The Waffle Store" standing by itself to house all of the various waffles.

HomeMade Waffles

What kind of waffles do I make?

FOR the diehard waffle lovers who are also cooks, making your own waffles is a kitchen pastime. Here again, we see how the waffles have taken over. Try sorting through the hundreds of waffle recipes to find the perfect one! There are yeast waffles or baking powder waffles and which are better? Should I make them plain, add nuts, fruit or spice? There are too many decisions in this Great Waffle Takeover. Be prepared to spend several years trying out all of the combinations!

Waffle Makers

But Homemade is good!

AFTER the perfect recipe is found, something is needed to cook this amazing waffle. This is where the Great Waffle Takeover becomes downright confusing. Which waffle maker is the best? An online search will produce hundreds of choices with so many different options. There are round waffles, square ones, heart shaped, Belgian, rotary/flip, non-stick, stainless steel and even a combo waffle maker that also makes pancakes and muffins. If you want to make waffle cones, there is even a maker for those too. I think the waffles are winning.

Waffles = 3 Meals A Day

THE delicious waffle is now made, and it still rules because now we have to decide what to put on it. Butter, syrup, fresh fruit, whipped cream, preserves, honey and cinnamon sugar are a few choices that come to mind. It doesn't end there. Suppose we decide to serve a savory waffle for dinner and then the possibilities are endless! We could add chicken, gravy, chili, stew, bacon, cheese or how about a pizza waffle? Once again the waffle has won the takeover battle.

I am sure the waffle has

other tricks up its' sleeve.

I wonder what the waffle will do next?

I am generally a pancake girl ( I make the best whole wheat, oatmeal blueberry pancakes!), but this is making me hungry. Frozen waffles aren't good to me. I'd have to have fresh made.

I haven't really eaten many waffles in my life, but freshly made ones are definitely worth having. I don't really like Maple Syrup, so a fruit sauce or jam would go best on mine. I think it would be great to have a waffle maker at home.

The other thing that caught my eye is the image you've got there of an older waffle maker - because I have one just like it.
