Going the Healthy Low Carb Way

Low carb is the carbohydrate nutrient one gets from food however in low quantity. For every food you eat, their is unit of energy that ones gets from these foods. And that is known as calories. These calories goes through a complicated process that I wouldn't want to explain here. But the basic thing is for you to known that the chemical processes that takes place whenever we eat is what bring about calories.

If you observe well, you would notice that if you check the food labels of food packages or cans, there are nutritional benefits on this labels. They highlight and list the various nutrients and their units of calories derived from the food.Food authority has mandated all food and beverages companies to include this on their food packages.

So, it is necessary for you whenever you go to the store to buy any groceries, it would help you to known how much of calories, you would see it as kilocalories on those labels. This aid you to determine how much of calories each nutrients in the food contains and guide you in making the choice in your purchase.

If you on a low carb diet, this list of the labels would state if the food package has low carb, low fat,low sugar or what have you.

The reason why you need to choose food low in carbohydrate is because of the effect a high carb food content would results in.In the process of digestion of your food, the digestion of carbohydrate starts from the mouth.Right from when the food touches your tongue and you chew it,your saliva contains an enzymes known as salivary amylase and it helps to accelerate the process of digestion of carbohydrate in

the food you eat.

As the food goes down through your throat to the stomach, right in the there, carbohydrate in your food is further broken down by yet another enzyme called amylase. This is produced in the liver by a certain hormone known as glucagon which convert this digested carbohydrate into glucose.

When you take too much of carb, what happen is that this end product which is glucose becomes too much for the body to use and the insulin, which is an hormone produce by the liver, helps to store the excess in the liver. But, when it becomes too much for the liver to store,it becomes excess sugar which results into diabetes.

I bet you wouldn't want any of diabetes to impair your health. You and I know how debilitating the disease is.As it is often said, prevention is better than cure.It is wise if you inculcate the habit of taking less of carbohydrate as you ensure that there is low carb in your daily diet.

Below is yet another low carb recipes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. So,stay healthy.
