My Favorite Kitchen Tool: The Mui Mandoline Slicer

Updated on April 14, 2013

The Mandoline Slicer

I love kitchen gadgets and tools that make my job easier in the kitchen. My mandoline slicer is just such a tool.

I have used my kitchen mandoline slicer to:

1) Thinly slice cabbage for coleslaw

2) Make uniform slices of eggplant for Eggplant Parmesan

3) Slice green tomatoes for frying

4) Slice potatoes for french fries

5) Slice potatoes for waffle fries

6) Create thin cucumber chips for dips and salads

and last, but not least---

7) Make cute, wavy carrots so grandchildren will eat them

What is the most attractive feature of my mandoline? It can go in the dishwasher!

What accessory do I recommend? A cutting glove!

Images of the mandoline slicer in use were taken by me.

MIU France: Mandolines

My Professional Kitchen Mandoline In Action! - The result: uniform slices of eggplant!

This professional grade tool is a welcome addition to any kitchen. My mandoline slicer features a brushed stainless steel finish. My kitchen tool also has a built in julienne blade. For quick changing, simply rotate the dial on the side to your desired selection. Also built into the mandoline is a straight and serrated blade. A great way to quickly slice and julienne vegetables. Ergonomic non-slip grip and folding leg help support my favorite kitchen gadget!

The Mandoline Slicer is Sharp!

I insist that you get a cut resistant glove.

I really do recommend that if you have a mandoline slicer you NEED a mesh cutting glove. I nearly sliced the end of my thumb off one day when slicing cabbage. Do buy one, please.

Please give readers your view on kitchen mandoline slicers. If you have a recipe or suggestion, feel free to elaborate.

Remember, I do advise that you get the Cut resistant gloves mentioned above.

Can you tell that I really want you to own them if you have a mandoline?

Is there a mandoline slicer in your life?
