Mandoline Slicer Reviews

To find the best mandoline slicer I turned to reading mandoline slicer reviews. If you have not figured it out from reading my other articles, I am a person who loves to cook and of course eat food. One of my favorite tools to use in the kitchen is my mandoline slicer.

I had never owned a slicer quiet like the one I purchased several months ago and didn't really know what to expect. A good friend of mine owned one of these incredible devices and told me I had to get one if I was serious about wanting a a fast an easy way to slice up the different fruits and vegetables as well as the many other foods that I use in cooking.

I have owned several different types of slicers over the years and most of them seemed to be more hassle than they were worth. When I purchased my mandoline slicer I was really impressed. It does a fantastic job of slicing up most anything I throw at it and it is a snap to clean up.

Swissmar Borner V Power Mandoline, V-7000

Well I must say, I was very impressed with the mandoline vegetable slicer that I ended up purchasing. The model that I purchased is the Swissmar Borner V Power Mandoline V-7000, I choose this model for two reasons, the price was very competitive with the other slicers I looked at and the mandoline slicer reviews that I read on Amazon all showed that this is really one of the best mandoline slicers you can get, in fact, it has received 4 1/2 out of 5 starts on amazon.

I have never used a slicer as much as I use this one, in fact as we eat a lot of fruits and vegetables in our house and I use our slicer at least once a day. It works great for slicing up things for a quick snack and definitely saves us a lot of time when preparing meals. All in all I could not be happier with this purchase.

Swissmar Mandoline Slicer - Made in Germany

Of course there were two other reasons I decided on this model, first it came in a range of colors so we were able to get something that matched many of our other kitchen utensils and secondly, My girlfriend was born in Germany which is where Swissmar products are made. Of course normally I wouldn't buy a product because of this reason however this model got great mandoline slicer reviews so I was more than fine with it.

OXO Good Grips V-Blade Mandoline Slicer

The OXO V-Blade Mandoline slicer is perfect for everything from potatoes to tomatoes and everything in between. It's v shaped blade is made of hardened stainless steel and this model comes with both straight and wavy blades. Additionally you can adjust the thickness of your cuts to four different settings making this a very versatile slicer.

Truth be told, although I went with the Swissmar model the OXO mandoline slicer is every bit as good as the Swissmar.

Slice, Dice and More

If you have never owned a mandoline slicer or don't really know what one is then that’s part of the information I hope to provide in this mandoline slice review. First of this type of slicer is different from others in that it it has two parallel working surfaces instead of just one surface. You place the food item on the adjustable surface and slide it until it hits the second fixed surface which holds the blade.

This type of slicer can slice foods several different ways such as julienne, waffle cut and crinkle cuts. Additionally it has several benefits such as being able to slice foods at uniform thickness which can be very important for foods that you are frying. Additionally you don't have to worry about cutting up your knuckles or fingers which can happen when using a knife or traditional style slicer.

Kitchenaid Classic Mandoline Slicer

This KitchenAid mandoline slicer is a little different than the previous two in that it doesn't have a v shaped blade. However, by all reports this does not change the fact that this is also one of the best mandolin slicers on the market right now.

All in all it just comes down to whether you want a v shaped blade or not and which brand you prefer. They are all wonderful slicers that really do what they were made to do.

I Love to Cook! - A Mandoline Slicer Makes Things Easy

I am avid cook and cook dinners for my family most nights, which my girlfriend especially loves, and owning a mandoline slicer has really helped me to speed up the process of preparing meals. Before purchasing my slicer i used an older style slicer or a knife when slicing up my fruits and vegetables and have definitely had the misfortune of cutting myself with a knife a time or two and scraping my knuckles and fingers on the slicer. Well I know longer have that problem which makes this kitchen tool very invaluable to me.

One of my favorite things to use this for is making fried potatoes, one of my biggest problems in the past was not having uniform slices which usually meant that some of the potatoes would be cooked just right while others were not done enough. I know longer have that problem.

I also like making fresh salads, with this kitchen tool it is now very easy to slice up tomatoes, carrots, mushrooms and anything else I want to add while once again having nice uniform slices.

Something my family loves but that I am not such a big fan of is fried zucchini, as with the potatoes, it is difficult to do a proper cooking job when you have slices of different widths, with my mandoline slicer each slice comes out perfect and makes the process much easier.

Even for the casual cooker this is one must have kitchen tool to have and will really end up saving you a lot of time in the kitchen not to mention less injuries.
