My Favorite Kitchen Buddy - Kitchen Aid Mini Chopper Food Processor

Updated on August 20, 2014

KitchenAid Mini Chopper-A Handy Kitchen Gadget!

It's hard to choose only one small kitchen appliance!

I got my KitchenAid Mini Chopper almost 10 years ago when we lived in our last home that had a small kitchen that I gave an art deco black and white look to and added red accents. I needed small kitchen appliances that would fit on my small counter tops and would store easily.

I love how easy this great little kitchen appliance is to assemble, how great it stores in any of my cupboards, the simple and fast cleanup and it does a ton of chopping, cutting, mincing and pureeing for me to make my cooking so much faster. The Kitchen Aid Mini Chopper is one of my secrets to how I get so much done and how I can create and cook a variety of items similar to how my professionally trained chef husband would. I used to need his help a lot more in the past and the earlier years of our marriage! The right tools in a well equipped kitchen can help you too.

I have a larger food processor too but, find that I use this mini chopper so much more often for all kinds of prep work in the kitchen.

I'm so glad I chose the KitchenAid brand and will share some of the ways I use this handy kitchen tool and what you will love about it too.

Kitchen Aid Mini Food Processor - I have this Red model and Love it! Even the smallest kitchen will have room to store the perfect mini food processor.

I love the compact size of this mini food processor. It holds up to 3 cups which I find is plenty for up to 4 people when chopping any number of fresh vegetables such as onions, carrots, tomatoes, zucchini, radishes or cucumbers for salads. Eating salads every day is enjoyable when it's so fast and easy to keep freshly chopped vegetables at the ready. We snack on loads of fresh vegetables too and with a little fruit, cheese and crackers, it's a healthy snack that I feel good about serving. We also use it to add nuts to salads and desserts!

I love the simple design of this mini chopper that has one stainless steel blade that rotates super fast at the touch of one button only. The pulse switch can be held down constantly or use as a pulsating touch for larger cuts. This machine is super easy to clean, just remove the blade, rinse and dry. The cost is amazing and I've had my KitchenAid Mini Chopper for over 10 years without a single problem. Plus, it's super affordable for a small kitchen appliance that does so much and makes a great gift idea! Add it to your wish list....

These are some of the ways I use this super handy small kitchen appliance

Make a batch of Homemade Pesto!

Pesto is fast and easy to make yourself in the Kitchen Aid Mini. Just add fresh peeled garlic, olive oil, grated cheese and fresh basil. In 30 seconds or less, you have the best and freshest pesto to add to your pasta sauce, seafood dishes, veal, chicken or to make your own bruschetta.

Homemade Applesauce

I peel and quarter apples, add them to the mini chopper, create a puree and cook to a boil. Then simply add it to jars, seal it, cool and have fresh homemade applesauce for a week that my family loves. Pure apples without any preservatives is yummy and they don't need sugar - they're naturally sweet.

Easily Make Homemade Hummus!

Making hummus is easy in my Kitchen Aid Mini Chopper. I use two cans of garbanzo beans (chickpeas), 3-4 tablespoons of Tahini, 2 tablespoons of fresh ground garlic, 3 tablespoons of olive oil, dash of salt and pepper, juice of one lemon and mix it all up in the chopper. It's fast and simply yummy as a dip for crackers or pita chips. Try it soon!

Puree Strawberries

Fresh strawberries are delicious and I love to puree them to make non alcoholic daiquirii drinks for my family and friends, (add liquor if you like too), make smoothies simply, to use as a fresh and yummy dessert topping or you could even make your own baby food with freshly pureed strawberries!

Chopping Nuts for Cookies, Cakes and Desserts or Salads

My husband and I are cookie monsters! It's true I must admit and I love to add nuts to our cookies and salads and having my mini chopper makes it super fast and easy to do rather than hand cutting them. Sometimes, I keep pulsating the chopper so the nuts are super fine and add those to the top of a frosted cake or brownies to make it look nicer than just plain icing on top.
