My Top Ten Favorite Fruits

Updated on February 1, 2013

Sweet and Yummy

I can easily say that I love eating fruits more than vegetables. I love how fruits have bright attractive colors, sweet distinguishing flavors, and crunchy to soft textures. My favorite fruits are not the typical apple and strawberries. I do like apples and strawberries. Well I can't seriously remember the last time I ate an apple. :O Strawberries are alright, but I think artificial strawberry flavoring (in candy or juice) tastes better than the original fresh strawberry itself.

I love the way fruit can be eaten with chocolate, whip cream, wine, or cheese. Fruits can be used when making pies, desserts, or cakes. Some chopped fruit can be added to a vegetable salad to make the flavors come together and unique. They add a pop of color and sweetness to the dish. Fruit baskets make great gifts or a potluck dish for any occasion.

Well without further ado, this page is created to list my most favorite fruits. :)

1. Red Seedless Watermelon

My all-time favorite, #1, ultimate fruit is watermelon! :D I can't tell you how much I love eating watermelons. I get excited when I see watermelons. I don't know how to explain it, but watermelons make me feel really happy. I feel like a kid in a candy store when I am around watermelons. I don't just eat any watermelons. I like the watermelons that are sweet and have the perfect texture. The center of a watermelon is my favorite part and my least favorite part are the whites near the rinds. Anything around the rinds are not as sweet tasting.

2. Red Seedless Grapes

I love eating grapes. I can eat grapes until my stomach hurts. I like the grapes that are firm. The more ripe and soft grapes are icky.

3. Mandarin Oranges

Mandarin oranges are awesome! They're tiny and tasty. When I was younger, I used to think they were called small oranges. I don't like eating oranges because they taste different. They do NOT taste like mandarin oranges because I can tell the difference. Mandarin oranges are easy to peel and I just love them. :)

Canned Mandarin Oranges

I also like and prefer to eat canned mandarin oranges. They are inexpensive and because they are canned they won't spoil as quick. Some plastic packaged mandarin oranges are made with jello which I do NOT like to eat. In my opinion, its nasty. I prefer them canned or plastic packaged without the jello. Mandarin oranges are also my #1 favorites because they are super yummy!

4. Pineapple

I like to eat fresh pineapples. I haven't peeled a pineapple by myself just yet because usually my mom does the peeling and cutting the pineapple into long slices. Yum.

Canned Pineapple

Just like mandarin oranges, I prefer to eat pineapples in the canned form. The photo shows pineapple tidbits. I like both the tidbits and ring versions of canned pineapples. They are delicious, but I get a tummy ache if I eat too much. :/

5. Bananas

I like to eat bananas as they are, but I prefer to eat them in banana splits. :)

Banana Split

I don't make banana splits, more like I chop the banana into small slices and eat them in a bowl of ice cream. I then like to add whipped cream, chocolate syrup, and pecans.

6. White Lady Peaches

I like peaches, but white lady peaches are my favorite. The inside of these peaches are white whereas other peaches are yellow. I like to eat the yellow peaches in the canned form.

7. Persimmon Fruits

Tomato-Look-A-Like

This fruit looks like a typical red/orange tomato, but it isn't. I never really knew the correct name for this fruit. I always ALWAYS called them 'the fruit that looks like a TOMATO, but its not - its orangey.' Persimmon fruits are kind of rare to find. I usually find them in asian markets. The skin of this fruit is very thin. The texture is soft, but not as soft as a tomato. It tastes like... I'm not really sure what flavor to compare persimmon fruits with but they are sweet. :) I do like to eat them. Some people dislike them. Just like a tomato, do not eat the green leaves on the top.

8. Cherries

Cherries are SO expensive, but I do like eating them. I also like maraschino cherries - the cherries you put on top of ice cream sundaes/banana splits.

9. Asian Pears

This fruit is like an apple fused with a pear. I love the taste and texture. Its really unexplainable, you'll just have to eat one and find out for yourself. Asian pears to me are very crunchy. They aren't soft like apples, they are more firm and just very crunchy. :) The center where the seeds are located do taste a bit sour so I carve it off before I eat it. I do not eat the skin of asian pears because it just doesn't look edible. I call the small spots on the skin 'freckles' - I don't want to eat freckles. *Haha. Like the persimmon fruit, I usually find asian pears in asian markets.

10. Mangoes

I like to eat mangoes when they are ripe. The only thing that I dislike is that the mangoes that are too ripe will get stuck in your teeth. The mango flesh is like strands of hair. -.- But overall, mangoes are yummy & slimy & a beautiful fruit.

Mangoes with Fish Sauce & Pepper

Another way that I like to eat mangoes is to choose the unripe mangoes (green skin with no red showing) and cut them into long segments then dip them into fish sauce and dried red pepper flakes. It is SO spicy and mouth watering and MmMmM-good! If you have not yet tried this sauce then I suggest you should! It may seem weird, but golly its goooood! I also sometimes eat this spicy sauce with apples, but MOSTLY mangoes.

Mmmm.

Any type of fish sauce will do! :D If you don't want it too spicy then lessen the amount of pepper flakes you put in.

Watermelon is my favorite but it seems like the seedless watermelons have less taste.
