My Mother's Best Peach Cobbler Recipe

My mother's peach cobbler recipe is one of my favorite desserts. Actually, it is my favorite breakfast too. I have even been known to eat it for lunch.

I guess just about everyone believes their mother is the best cook, but mine really is the best. Her peach cobbler simply cannot be beat. I have sampled peach cobbler in restaurants in a few countries and I have never, ever found one as good as my own mother's cobbler. Every time I order it, I wait in great anticipation only to be disappointed. So, I ask myself, why bother. I need to just go home and make my own.

This is one of the easiest recipes you will ever make!

Cook Time

Prep time: 10 min
Cook time: 45 min
Ready in: 55 min
Yields: 10 - 12 servings

Ingredients for My Peach Cobbler Recipe

  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1Cup Milk
  • 1Cup Self Rising Flour
  • 1 Small Can Sliced Peaches
  • *4 tbsp. Butter (melted)

Note: If you prefer to use fresh peaches, you will need 4 or 5 peeled peaches and 1/2 cup of water instead of the canned peaches.

  3. Combine: Sugar, Milk and Flour
  4. Pour: Mixture over melted butter

I have to tell you, I have NEVER made Peach Cobbler before in my life, and this was THE EASIEST most sinful thing I have ever made! I prepared the recipe as written here last night, and it was simply marvelous! We ate it hot out of the oven with a couple of scoops of plain vanilla ice cream, and I thought I had died and gone to heaven! If you like cobbler, or just want to try something new... You HAVE to try this recipe - I can assure you won't be disappointed! Mmmmmm!!!.

The first time I've taken my laptop in the kitchen to follow a recipe... and it's AWESOME!!! Easy and delicious Peach Cobbler. Just wanted to make note: I didn't have self-rising flour so I used all-purpose with 1 1/2 tsp baking powder and a little less than a 1/2 tsp salt. Fav, FB, tweeted and lensrolled to Easy Turtle Cupcakes. Thanks so much. :D

Are you SURE you also put the peach syrup? I seem to recall an old recipe I had that did not ask for the syrup... I also believe that it was 8 oz of butter--an entire stick. I know, I also thought it was too much butter, but it worked every time! I used to make this recipe all the time, the result is absolutely fantastic.

@anonymous: jaxiegirl, there are actually a couple of things that might cause that and as you indicated the length of baking time could be one. I do bake my cobbler for 45 min. However, I am actually more inclined to believe it may have more to do with the placement of your cobbler in the oven. A cobbler needs to be center of your oven. If the cobbler is placed to close to the heating element, the edges will cook faster, appear to be done, but leaving the center not completely cooked. You will want a more even and thorough baking. Also, I do put my peaches on the top. They will settle throughout the mixture instead of being the "foundation" of the cobbler. Putting the fruit first also places the mixture further away from the heat and could well be creating a barrier for thorough cooking.
