Hot or not?

Peppers don't have to be red, but a lot of them are and they make beautiful plants! Sweet red peppers have a lot of flavor but no heat, and chiles can really spice up your life. Their heat depends on the variety of the pepper, but also the conditions they were grown under, do unless you've got cast iron tastebuds, might be best to nibble before you dive right in!

Schug and Harissa Recipes - Preserve those peppers!


If you have a glut of hot peppers (or they're on sale!), my friend Carl has some awesome recipes for preserving them - turn them in to your own homemade Schug and Harissa spice pastes!

"Harissa is a Tunisian/Morrocan red chilli paste seasoned with spices. Some variations include tomatoes too, which round out the flavour.

Schug (zhug or skhug) is a Yemeni green chilli paste make with lashings of fresh coriander and seasoned with spices. There is also a red variant."

      I love both sweet and chilli peppers. I use them in so many different dishes. Great lens.

      My husband is particularly fan of hot red peppers, so I use them a lot in my kitchen.
