This Little Piggy Baked! Pig Kitchen Décor...
This little piggy went to market...
Then she came home and got busy, in a fun pig-themed kitchen! Do you love pig décor? There are some really fun pieces out there, whether you are browsing some of the Animal House accessories from Boston Warehouse, or just scanning! If you live in a small town, like mine, there aren't too many venues for finding cute things in animal motifs, particularly when you want fun or unique items for kitchen and dining. We do have an Ace Hardware that stocks some fun things, but believe me, it's limited.
Even if you do live in a big city, and have the opportunity to access fun kitchen shops, you might have to do a little traveling to find a wide variety of specialized items, particularly in pig décor, or other animal accents. With gas costs creeping (sprinting, perhaps?) ever upward, it's nice to have virtual access to many possibilities!

I've found some cute pig themed items to display for you, but I've also provided some fun ways to use them. If you need an excuse to add one of these piggies to your shopping list, then don't miss my tips for using these products to motivate kids. I've also made some fun suggestions for hosting a BLT bar at a family and friends get together. You'll find these tips peppered throughout the article, so be sure to continue reading!
Pink Pig Kitchen Timer by Loving Home
This Little Piggy Kept Time
Although a kitchen timer is more of a novelty, given the electronics we have available, it's still cute, and affordable. This little piggy is wonderful for adding pink hues to your kitchen or any other space. Use a timer to help children brush teeth or wash hands for an ample amount of time. Use it to help them understand spans of time. When you tell a youngster that it will be a few minutes before an event, there isn't always a great grasp of that time. Rather than deal with continual requests, "Is is time yet?", your child can watch the timer to recognize that the time is nearing. While a timer may not be efficient for long spans, it will help to encourage qualities like patience.

Pink Pig Melamine Breakfast Plate
Can you imagine the humor in using a piggy themed breakfast plate as a dessert plate at a party!? These are very cute, whether as gifts for the cook who loves pig décor, or whether to use at a themed party or "roast"!
Wooden Cutting Boards Shaped Like Pigs
If you know a cook who adores pigs, then a wooden cutting board in pig shape makes a fun gift. Include it in a gift basket or present it with a bacon press. Use it to serve your BLT sandwiches! If you love the concept of small cutting boards and mini loaves of bread served in restaurants, why not improvise on the theme by using wood pig cutting boards in place of plates for BLTs, pulled pork sandwiches or to hold small plates of sweet and sour pork. Your imagination is truly the only limitation on your ability to incorporate a piggy theme into a meal!

Pig Utensils: Pig Products that Add Fun to Your Kitchen
If you are the kind of cook who loves to have fun in the kitchen, like I do, or if you know someone who does, then you really can't go wrong by adding these cute utensils to your décor and kitchen action. This is a fun choice for teaching youngsters to cook. My own daughters have been involved in kitchen activities at various stages, and a piggy mixing spoon would have been a blast when my oldest was learning to stir brownie mix at 18 months of age. Of course, that episode ended tragically with a slip, fall, and split lip. Nevertheless, she has become a fantastic baker. These are fun items for remembering the early days!
At about age 5, there begins to be more manual development. While a 5 year old may not be ready for major whisking, he or she can begin to learn the concept.
Fun for flipping the eggs to go with that bacon and eggs breakfast, this nylon turner is great for teaching older children to do some basic cooking! At about 10 years of age, many of my children are ready for egg scrambling and frying with Mom's help.
At the tender age of two, a child can help stir cookie, brownie or cake mix. Decorate the kitchen and dining areas in a little piggies theme and work on teaching about keeping things tidy!
What a fun way to present the bacon for breakfast. Also great for creating a BLT bar for a get together!
Tongs are a little tough for youngsters, but these will help them work on the manual skills involved. These are also great for your BLT bar, perfect for picking up lettuce and tomato slices!
Fun Piggy Door Prizes
These pieces from Joie are fantastically fun, and perfect to use as door prizes! Take a couple of these great utensils for your next Bingo or Bunco night!

Given the reasonable prices of these utensils, you can use them in any number of fun ways, as simple gifts at Christmas or a birthday, in a white elephant gift exchange, or as party favors. In fact, why not have a twist on the white elephant theme, and host a pink pig gift exchange sometime...it doesn't even have to be for Christmas! Have everyone bring a gift to trade, but make the rule that it must be related to pigs!
Pig Salt and Pepper Shakers
I adore cute salt and pepper shakers. My grandmother had the best collection of vintage salt and pepper sets, and I loved to explore. As a young adult, I would try to find cute sets to give as holiday or birthday gifts. I'm sure that if she were still here today, we'd have an absolute blast exploring the many clever designs available, including the fun pig sets.
You can include these in your BLT bar or use them as door prizes for party games when you have a BLT get together. There are lots of great ways to display a salt and pepper collection too. If you need a simple but fun gift for a secret sister or for a white elephant party, I think pig décor like salt and peppers will work wonderfully!
Pig Bowls and Spreaders
If you are thinking about that BLT bar that I've been discussing, then you can incorporate pig bowls for various condiments, additions and sides. For example, the idea of guacamole spread on my BLT sounds divine! Use a pig bowl and spreader to provide this condiment, mayo, and other fun options. Olives on a BLT? Why not! Chopped cucumber? Maybe! I'm pretty game for any of these things, and fun display will make your activity one to be remembered and repeated!
