Pita Bread Appetizers

Updated on July 10, 2014

Delicious Pita Bread Appetizer Recipes

Welcome to my lens about Pita Bread Appetizers! These extremely easy and fun recipes will make a great addition to your dinner party, holiday meal or anytime - if I can make them, anyone can!

Most of these recipes take just minutes to make, and can be made with kids in the kitchen or by college students without cooking skills. (Trust me, I know from experience!) These are a great way to add another side dish to your holiday meal and get another family member involved in the world of cooking!

Cinnamon Crisp Pita Appetizers

My very favorite pita bread recipe!

To make Cinnamon Crisp Pita Appetizers, you will need:

two pita bread rounds (white or whole wheat)

nonstick cooking spray (butter flavored)

1 tablespoon sugar

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Here what you'll do:

Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees F.

While it's heating up, cover your baking sheets with aluminum foil.

Next, split your pita bread so you have 4 rounds from your 2, and then cut each round into wedges of six.

Now it's time to get your spray out - coat each side of the wedges, and place them on your baking sheet.

Combine the sugar and cinnamon, and then sprinkle over your pita wedges, carefully coating each.

Finally, pop it in the oven and bake for 12 to 14 minutes, or until golden brown and slightly crispy.

The Best Baking Sheets Ever - For absolutely PERFECT pitas, use these!

Garlic Pita Bread

Zesty and savory pita snacks!

What you need:

two pita rounds (white or whole wheat)

olive oil

garlic powder

onion powder

What to do:

Pre-heat oven to 400 F.

Split two pita rounds in half, and then cut into wedges.

Brush the tops of pita breads with olive oil.

Combine 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder and 1/4 teaspoon of onion powder,, dash of oregano, and sprinkle on pita tops.

Bake for 12 - 14 minutes, until crispy.

Pita Bread Crostini

Healthy Version of Crostini

Cut carbs on typical crostini recipes by using pita bread instead of French bread!

What you'll need:

pita bread (white or whole wheat)

olive oil

red, green, yellow and orange peppers (or other vegetables)

goat cheese

What you'll do:

First, brush pita bread with olive oil on both sides and grill for about 90 seconds or two minutes each side.

Next, cut up the rounds into wedges.

For the topping:

Wash and slice your peppers (or your own favorite veggie - mushrooms and tomatoes also work well).

Saute peppers until soft, and mix with goat cheese in bowl.

Spread the topping across your wedges and enjoy!

A nice lens with a nice purpose...Pita bread makes a pretty good mini pizza too....use one round, brush with olive oil and pizza sauce, top with pepperoni (or whatever) and mozzarella and toss in the oven until the cheese browns a bit.

This is great. I''ll be back to try them out. I have a question. I used to be able to buy a pita bread that had a spongy, chewy quality and loved, but now I can't get it. Does anyone know a good recipe for this type of pita bread?

I'm hungry and trying to decide what to eat, so I thought I thought I'd peruse foody lenses and found yours. First, congratulations of LOTD for this AND for your charity getting that $1000. That's great! And so are these recipes, which would be good for any time of year, not just Thanksgiving. Matter of fact, I have some pita bread in the pantry, and I have the rest of the ingredients to make that garlic pita bread, which looks easy enough even for me--very much a NON-cook--to make. Great job on this!
