Hot Air Popcorn is Healthy and Fun

Updated on January 23, 2016

Hot air popcorn is fun to make and healthy to eat!

Do you like homemade popcorn? Then an air popper is a must have kitchen gadget for you. Hot air popcorn poppers are much healthier than on-the-stove poppers because they use hot air instead of oil to pop the corn, so the result is much healthier and less fattening. It tastes great too!

I bought my first air popcorn popper as a treat for my kids when they were very young. I thought that it would be fun to pop out a healthy snack for the whole family to enjoy on movie nights or weekends and it was so cheap that even if we rarely used it or it broke down after a few uses, it would still be worth while. Well, my first air popper almost eight years and when it stopped working I replaced it with the Presto Poplite. Not only did it turn popcorn making and eating into a fun activity enjoyed by the whole family but it has always been a great hit at my kids' birthday parties. Hosts and guests alike just loved watching the corn kernels swirling and popping through the clear plastic of the appliance and then being ejected into the large bowl held waiting for them. A dab of melted butter and a little salt, and their happiness was complete!.

The Presto Poplite is the most highly rated and probably best value for money home air popper currently on the market. I really like it because it is fast and reliable and very easy and fun to use. In about two minutes you get two large bowlfuls of piping hot crunchy popcorn with very few unpopped kernels, and that is much faster and cheaper than microwave popcorn and certainly healthier than corn popped in oil. It is also small and compact, easy to store and really easy to clean. With a 2-year guarrantee by Presto, it is probably one of the best choices for a home popcorn maker.

Making air popped popcorn is a fun family activity!

Making pop corn at home is a fun activity in which the whole family can join. The Presto Poplite is quite safe for older children to use and it is great fun to watch the corn popping and cascading into the serving bowl, making movie nights at home something to look really forward to!

Keep in mind that air popped corn is quite dry and salt or other types of popcorn seasoning like chile powder, garlic powder etc, do not stick to it easily. The measuring cup of the Presto Poplite doubles up as a butter melter, so you can add melted butter to your popcorn as soon as it is ready. This makes the seasoning of your choice stick to it better, but it also adds calories to an otherwise low fat snack and it does make the popcorn a little soggy. I have found that the best solution to this is spraying the popcorn with a very light mist of olive oil or cooking spray as soon as it is ready, and then sprinkling salt or/and whatever other kind of seasoning you like on it.
