recipe for imitation crab.

Updated on May 3, 2008

Never Fail Imitation Crab

You will need imitation crab, check the number of portions your container holds or buy about 1/4 pound crab per guest.

Large bowl... one pound of cheddar cheese, or whatever cheese you prefer. but cheddar bakes nicely and looks good too. glass of white wine.

3 whipped eggs small can of Anaheim chili's, chopped or diced. 1 cup milk (non fat) 1 can diced tomatoes (medium size will do)drain the water. small chopped green pepper 1 small, chopped red pepper grated cheese cube butter or margarine black ground pepper

Make(boil) a pound or two(depending on how many guests) of pasta, such as angel hair or small macaroni or thin spaghetti you don't want to overwhelm your dish with heavy pasta. make or get some small croutons, about a cup and one half. preheat oven to 275 use some of the margarine or butter to lightly grease the bowl, just hold the cube, tear off the paper, and spread it around. throw the remainder of the butter into the bowl. Put everything but cheese, black pepper ,croutons, the red pepper, and 1/4 the crab into the bowl. whip the eggs and then mix with other contents. ready your cheese slices to place on top.

Place the rest of the crab in the center of the bowl . you may have to make a small hole in the pasta... Lightly sprinkle black pepper ( and salt if you cook with it, I don't)on the top. sprinkle grated cheese on the top. Sprinkle the diced, red pepper around.. Layer the cheese slices and place on top. Sprinkle the croutons around. Pop into the oven for around 25 minutes, until the cheese is completely melted. This will depend on your oven. Also, add more milk if you use more pasta

Drink the wine;. enjoy!~

      Hi solarcaptain,

Ok, I'll just have to ask when I go shopping, since I never buy them.

That's so funny about Otella! I won't go that far for my kitties lol,,,I have so much stuff in my house anyway there's no other way to arrange it. The bed? Yes, definitely! It's funny, at night after I shut this puter off, the 2 older ones look at me and start walkin to the bedroom, they KNOW when it's bedtime, it's so cute.

Ruthie, the only cat stories I tell are to a few fellow cat lovers at my job. Nobody else would understand. And no doubt, would just shake their heads, thinkin, 'crazy lady'. :)

      Thanks for sharing,

HI--recipe sounds good! One question--not a great lover of chilis or real spicy foods. Can I just use a few diced green chilis, a little of the juice, more black pepper and a little cumin and come out with about the same thing?

Patty and I have talked kittys before--I'm a CAT person, too. Yes, we're all a little nuts when it comes to our cats! I move stuff for Baby during the day to make his life easier and arrange myself in odd shapes in bed so as not to bother his sleep. When you say it out loud it's a pretty stupid thing to do for an animal but because we love them-------.

Come by and see my kitty hubs and we can exchange "tails".

Hi, thanks for your comment trish, Just be careful with the chili peppers, I chose anaheim's because they are readily available in produce department or packed in the little cans. They have an excellent flavor and are the choice by many for greern chili.

I like your cat, I don't have to ask if you are a caT person, which would be like asking a cat person if they are " a little quirky!"

My cat, Otella, has it in her noggin the floor is something she must avoid. It's just a simple wood floor. I started by carrying her around ha ha if you can believe it, but then I got smart, oh yes, I rearranged everythng so she can hop from chair to table, etc; isn't that just the dumbest thing you ever heard? She also hogs my bed and gives me about 6 inches of space. she gets highly indignent if I accidently , or unavoidably take one inch of her space. Cats will always prevail and rule.

      Hi SolarCaptain,

Thanks! It sounds yummy, and cheddar is my favorite cheese. Will any brand of chilies do? I am not familiar with brands of chilies, and don't know if they carry the one you mention here in NJ.
