Dining Inside the Pirates of the Caribbean Ride at Disneyland
If you have ever been on the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at Disneyland then you probably seen the Blue Bayou Restaurant, which is located inside the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. We floated by the Blue Bayou restaurant many times during our muliple trips to Disneyland over the years and I often wondered what it would be like dining there. It always looked so romantic. It's as if you are dining by candlelight under the night sky on the shore of a bayou with glistening fireflies and the sound of frogs and crickets coming from the water. Well I no longer have to wonder because I finally had the chance to dine there. The experience was wonderful. We were celebrating our anniversary so I guess that made it all the more romantic. Its wasn't as expensive as I expected and the experience was all that I thought and hoped it would be. This would be a wonderful place to take someone to celebrate their birthday, anniversary or special occasion, like Mother or Father's Day. It would be a unique, romantic, spot to propose marriage too. Here is my personal review and photos of the Blue Bayou Restaurant.
My Dining Experience at the Blue Bayou Restaurant at Disneyland
The Blue Bayou Restaurant is located inside Disneyland. The dining area of the restaurant is inside the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction but the entrance to the restaurant is located near the exit of the Pirates of the Caribbean in the New Orleans Square section of Disneyland. Dining at the Blue Bayou Restaurant feels as if you are dining under the night sky on the shore of a bayou. It's dark yet light enough to see your food on the candlelit tables. You can hear the sounds of frogs and crickets, and see the boats of people floating by on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. There are trees and plants all around, fireflies that light up under the illusions of the night sky, and you can hear banjo pickin music in the background. It is a very unique and tranquil setting.
We had reservations so the wait was only about 10 minutes. The restaurant knew it was our anniversary so they made sure to seat us waterside table, which was a lovely surprise considering that we forgot to request a waterside table when we made our reservations. Our server arrived immediately and he was very friendly, which is to be expected since this is Disneyland, the happiest place on earth. Our meal was served about 15 minutes after ordering it. The cost for 2 steak (fillet mignon) and lobster Bayou Surf and Turf meals came to $102, which wasn't too bad considering the unique dining experience that came along with the great meal. It was served with bread, scallops potatoes, a few veggies, and one of the best salads I ever had. For our anniversary, they treated us with a special mouthwatering chocolate dessert and wished us a happy anniversary, which was very nice of them to do.
The food was definitely better than theme park food and it was above average in comparison to other restaurants I've dined at. The Blue Bayou is a unique dining experience and a nice place to take someone celebrating a special occasion. I would recommend this restaurant. Park admission is required to dine at the restaurant. You don't need reservations but it is recommended. For reservations, call Disney Dining at (714) 781-DINE or (714) 781-3463.
