Favorite Winter Beverages

Updated on January 25, 2015

Coffee, Tea, or Milk (Hot Chocolate) ...

Hot beverages are a big part of staying warm in the winter. Everyone loves to cozy up with something warm to drink while sitting by a large roaring fire as the snow flies by.

With the proper appliances, coffee, tea, milk, and chocolate can be transformed into a wide variety of favorite beverages to entice and enjoy.

Is Coffee Your Favorite?

Choosing the perfect Coffee Maker

A programmable coffee maker is handy and convenient. I also like one that grinds the coffee from whole beans and then brews immediately after grinding.

Favorite Coffee Brands

Although Dunkin' Donuts is my favorite kind of coffee, I also really like Caribou coffee too. Caribou coffee is the brand I enjoy every time I visit Minnesota. I first found this brand of coffee on a trip to Banff, Alberta, Canada. Then several years later when my son went to college in St Paul, I was happy to find an abundance of Caribou coffee stores in the St Paul, Minneapolis area. And of course Caribou coffee is available at The Mall of America in the twin cities area.

This is an amazing way to brew your favorite hot drink. It makes many varieties of hot drinks and with it, you are not limited to coffee only. But this provides an excellent method to prepare Dunkin Donuts coffee or Caribou coffee in K-cup form.

Maybe Your Hot Drink is Tea

Green Tea--Good and Good for You! - This is my favorite kind. YUM!

A healthy choice for a hot beverage.

The Keurig single-cup brewer, listed above, is a convenient way to brew hot tea. Place your favorite tea bag in a cup and use the Keurig to dispense the appropriate amount of hot water to create the perfect cup of tea.

Hot Spiced Tea

This recipe is another family favorite.

1 1/4 cup Tang orange drink

1/2 cup sugar

1/3 cup instant tea

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon cloves

Dash of salt

Combine Tang, sugar, instant tea, spices and salt. Makes 2 cups dry mix or enough for 6 quarts tea.

For one serving, place one well-rounded teaspoon of mix in a cup. Fill with boiling water and stir until dissolved.

Main ingredient to make Orangy, Spiced Tea! Easy & delicious!

Or Maybe Hot Apple Cider is Your Favorite?

A Hot Drink with a Taste of Cinnamon

Decades ago, I learned of this delicious drink from a close friend. It blends apple cider with red hot cinnamon candy to create a beautiful, tasty hot drink with a light red hue.

It is an easy recipe to make and is fun to share with friends, especially at Christmas time because its hot, red, and cinnamony.

Enjoy this unique hot cup of sweetness anytime you need to warm up on a cold, frosty winter day or just want to enjoy something hot and flavorful.

Apple Cider with Red Hots

  1. Melt 1/4-1/3 cup of Red Hots in apple cider. (Adjust amount of Red Hots to suit your taste.)
  2. This delicious hot drink can be heated in a saucepan on the stove top. Another preparation method is to place ingredients inside a crock pot & set on high setting. This will keep it hot and available throughout the day--which is also an excellent way to serve hot apple-cinnamon cider at a party.

Hmmm! I like all these at different times, but I would have to go with hot tea being my favorite.

Wow, it's hard to think of winter beverages on a hot, summer day. I can always make room for hot chocolate though!

Coffee, since we have a mild winter. Sometimes I might drink a hot chocolate for a change though.

Tea drinker here. Even in summer I prefer the worm vs the iced tea.

I used to be a coffee lover and have now completed my caffeine withdrawal program. Glad I survived that. Seeking out beverage replacements ... been trying more tea ... love hot toddies.

I like spiced & spiked hot cider. Since I don't have any going right now I'll go and make a cup of cocoa. Nice lens.
