Serve & Save Wine Stylishly

Updated on June 10, 2015

Keep wine in top condition and serve with style

Our friend Nick really couldn't have picked a more thoughtful gift for us. Knowing us as he does, he's aware that a) we love drinking wine b) we try hard to only have stylish products in our home and c) having a tiny apartment, we love items which are multi-functional. I honestly can't rave about this product enough.

A carafe that keeps your wine fresh

And I mean fresh. For days and days. This is almost magical. Decant your wine into this carafe and it looks truly stylish on your dining table. And although it doesn't get the opportunity here, it will keep wine fresh for days. When we received it, I was instantly impressed by the sophisticated box it arrived in. Now I know that you can't judge a book by its cover but I'm designer - I do buy things because of they way they look.

A designer product

I couldn't find out who was responsible for the stylish design of this decanter. With its svelte looks,I was sure it was designed by Ron Arad or Philippe Starck, but no. (Of course, had it been, the price tag would have been astronomical). But that doesn't stop it being incredibly beautiful and wonderfully functional.

So how does it work?

Scroll down to see a video that explains far better than I can. - even this company's videos are super-stylish. But let me tell you a few reasons why we love this:

  • It's simplicity itself to use (even if you've had too much wine!)
  • Even though we have a tiny fridge, it fits in perfectly
  • Over the years, we have used corks, bungs, stoppers, tricky vacuum gadgets but nothing works like this
  • It's so easy to clean - it just needs rinsing
  • It is evidently dishwasher-safe. We don't have a dishwasher (unless you count himself) but by its sturdiness, I imagine that it will be fine
  • The glass used is high quality food grade and the product is BPA-free
  • It's perfect for people who are on their own who want just a glass or two of wine without buying those expensive half bottles

There's no such thing as leftover wine

We can easily drink a bottle of wine between the two of us (especially on Friday evenings for some reason) and when we each have half a bottle of wine inside us, it's easy to reach for another.

So even serious gluggers like us still need to keep opened bottles fresh. This wonderful product is the answer.

If you have wine lovers on your gift list, then I can guarantee that they'll be delighted to receive this practical and stylish carafe.

Drinking glasses have to be stylish also. I know it sounds snobby but I refuse to have anything in the house that doesn't please me visually.

This is particularly the case when they are items that I use every day.

My logic is simple - if I have to look at something on a daily basis, then it might as well lift my spirits simply because of the design of the products. Remembering that 'form follows function', there's a great amount of pleasure owning and using goods that look great and work brilliantly.

We have been in love with our Bodum glassware for many years. You remember that I said we like multi-functional products? Well, as well as being stylish, and these truly are, we them for cold drinks and they stay cold. We use them for hot drinks too. I also use them for desserts such as ice cream concoctions.

After years of using traditional stemmed wine glasses - and often managing to break the stems - we finally discovered these. They are wonderfully stylish and also eminently practical.

They look so gorgeous but are completely sensible too.We use these for juice and other drinks in addition to our regular evening wine.
