Silpat Nonstick Silicone Baking Mats

Updated on October 10, 2014

Baking With Demarle Silpat Silicone Baking Sheets

I absolutely love baking, but, before I invested in these Silpat baking mats I used to dread the thought of cleaning up the pans afterwards!

These Silpat baking mats are so simple to use, you just place the mat, with the smooth side upwards, on the worktop when working with sticky stuff, like dough, toffee, or caramel, or you can put it directly onto a metal baking tray to bake cookies, cakes, and perfect pastries!

These Silpat baking mats turn any pan or baking tray into a non stick surface without any extra greasing.

Baked pastries and cookies are easy to remove when cooled, lift them gently off the Silpat liner one by one or just lift the baking mat to allow them to slide off.

  • The Demarle Silpat flexible silicone baking sheet makes baking healthier by turning any baking tray or pan into a nonstick surface with absolutely no extra greasing necessary!
  • The silicone baking mats are made in France of fibreglass and silicone and what's more they are certified Kosher!
  • The Demarle baking liner is heat-resistant to 482 degrees F
  • The silicone baking sheets will last between 2,000 to 3,000 uses!
  • Silpat baking sheets are easy to clean, simply wipe them down

using hot water and soap and lay flat or hang to dry.

  • The baking sheets are freezer, microwave, and of course oven-safe
  • The Demarle silicone baking sheets don't take up much room, simply lay them flat or roll them up to store.

Since I got a Silpat, I haven't had to purchase anymore parchment paper for cookie baking.

Cleaning Your Silicone Baking Sheets

Silpat baking sheets are really easy to clean

To clean the baking mats, simply wipe them down using hot water and dish soap, shake off any excess water, and hang or lay it flat on an even surface to dry.

There's no substitute for a genuine Silpat baking mat. Essential for any baker and easy to clean up!

Before I invested in these nonstick baking liners I wondered whether or not the underside of my cookies would be as crispy as normal. However, heat is conducted well through the silicone mats and the bottoms of my biscuits and pastries cook just the same, if not better than before.

Ok, maybe they cost a little when you first buy them but doesn't everything?

The thing is that you won't spend as much as you previously did on aluminium foil and baking parchment paper because you won't need them nearly as much. So in time the silicone liner will pay for itself!

Nothing sticks and I also use the silpat mat to roast vegetables which seem to come out moister.

I would have to say that it depends what you will be using them for.

Yes I know it is for baking! :-) However, I like to bake quite a lot of savoury things as well as sweet so just in case any strong odours or tastes decided to hang around I bought another baking liner so that I could dedicate one for my savoury things and one for the sweet things.

One thing to remember! Do not use knives on the mat or you will damage the non-stick surface.

I know that I own lots of kitchen gadgets but these silicone baking mats have to be one of the most used. It's just that the Silpat mat is so versatile, it helps to bake cookies like nothing else, and without burning the bottoms, but it is also really useful for kneading dough or rolling out pastry, they are great for that sticky stuff, no more flour everywhere because I don't have to use too much!

I am pretty sure that if you invested in one of the silicone baking sheets you wouldn't want to go back to your old way of baking!

You can bake anything on the surface of the silpat baking mat and it releases like magic.
