These rich and hearty recipes are slow-cooked for great flavour, perfect for chilly autumn days. Just prepare your ingredients for the pot and let the oven or slow cooker do the rest.

Slow cooking has the advantage of a perfect taste with minimal effort. No need to stir the pot and the slow cooker can be programed to make food while you take care of other things. The disadvantage, however, is the long cooking time. If you want your food to taste like grandma's , try some recipes for slow cooking.

  • 6 pieces of chicken
  • skinless
  • cut( optional)
  • 900 g sweet potatoes

  • 1 cup white wine
  • 2 teaspoons fresh rosemary

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 1/2 tablespoon white wine vinegar.


  1. Put the chicken( optional) in a slow cooker, potatoes, mushrooms, onions, garlic, wine, rosemary, salt and pepper. Mix.
  2. Cook until the potatoes are cooked, about 5 hours.
  3. Serving suggestion: Add vinegar, stir well and serve hot.

  • 2 pickled cabbages ( you need the leaves)
  • 500 g rice
  • 3 large carrots
  • 3 large onions
  • 1 parsnip
  • 100 g ground peanuts( you can make it from raw peanuts in a grinder)
  • 100 g ground pumpkin seeds ( take some pumpkin seeds and use the grinder)
  • cold pressed oil
  • 2 -3 tablespoons tomato paste or sun-dried tomato paste (in oil)
  • salt
  • thyme
  • dill
  • basil


  1. Let's get to work! Because time is precious, yu can chop in the food processor onions, carrots and parsnip. Cook them in a few drops of oil and one cup of water until soft. 10 minutes is enough, as they will have plenty of time to cook in the slow cooker. Add well washed rice, the ground pumpkin seeds and ground peanuts, spices and salt. Mix well, cover with a lid and allow to cool. Meanwhile, prepare the cabbage leaves, take away the stubs, so you can fold the leaves easily.
  2. Carefully place the stuffed leaves in the slow cooker, place them in circle. Pour two cups of water, tomato paste mixed with two tablespoons of cold-pressed oil.
  3. Set the slow cooker on HighWarm (7-8h), and then Slow for 4-5 h.

A slow cooker is not a steamer as you could easily be fooled, though both use the power of hot steam to cook food. If in the steamer you can put several layers of food on several sieves, over a quantity of liquid, in the slow cooker the food cooks even in the liquid from the pot.
