Smoked Fish and Seafood

Updated on October 3, 2014

Smoked Seafood and Fish

Man has known for thousands of years that smoking some fish and seafood is a terrific way to preserve, and more recently, to enhance this great food source, available in the rivers, lakes and oceans of the world

As far as my family's preference for smoked seafood, I prefer smoked salmon while my husband likes smoked oysters in olive oil and sometimes herring in a variety of sauces.

Certain markets have "freshly smoked" fish available at the seafood counter while other varieties of smoked seafoods are available canned. I've selected a variety of canned oysters, clams and fish that you can order on the internet to be delivered to your home.

There are also a couple of gift baskets below that highlight smoked salmon and other delicacies of the sea.

My favourite smoked fish is fresh trout - the local supermarket has it. Of course, fresh smoked salmon is a favourite too! Try either of them on an open sandwich with fetta cheese.
