Summer Picnics

Updated on April 7, 2016

Dating and or Family Fun

Picnics and being with the ones you love is what the summer is all about. Proper planning can make your family outing or your romantic elegant meal for two go off without a hitch. Rain or shine picnics can be fun.

Your picnic can be as simple as a meal brought to an amusement park or a ball game, and you could even pack a huge meal and go to a drive in theater. The bottom line picnics are meant to be fun and I will show you how to make the most of them.

This is a simple romantic set up for a date.

Picnic Poll

There are many different kinds of picnics, you can even have a regency picnic. There are many clubs for Jane Austen or even steampunk. These groups have meetings all around the world. You can find a few of these clubs on facebook. How do you like to picnic with your friends? The Louisville Kentucky Jane Austen Society have a yearly trip, they call this picnic at Box hill, like in the Jane Austen's Emma.

With a little effort you can put on your own fancy picnic with your friends, theatre group, family or family.

Also you can go to any of the Regency style events in the world, many of which have outdoor eating. Looking up classic old time recipes can add a touch of elegance to any picnic.

The Fancy Picnic

These are for fancy refined gatherings or for romantic dates with your sweetie. They range in sizes, shapes and styles. Some can be expensive and others are better priced. They generally come in two sizes, which is picnic for two and picnic for four. They come in the classic wicker style and isolated material for heated and cooled foods. They have compartments for plates, cups and food.

For romantic finger foods, here are some simple foods. French bread, this can be bought for one to two dollars. Grapes, cheese and water or sparkling wine, glasses, plates and napkins.

Lock & Lock Round Travel Salad Bowl with Handle and Tray, 21-Cup, 169-Fluid Ounces

The lock and load container is not just great for salads, it can be used for many foods that are messy that you want to spill. Being worried about spilled salads, pastas and other foods would be a thing of the past with this container.

You might even want to fill this with popcorn if you have a drive in theater close by.

Staying Dry

I love the Leighton umbrella company, they made my favorite umbrella huge pumpkin shaped umbrella named Brella. This well made umbrella will keep you dry during the rainy end of the picnic, plus you won't miss out on any of the action because this large bubble umbrella is completely see through.

Large umbrellas can also be employed to shade you from the harmful effects of the sun.

This yellow umbrella is mine. It is a large two person golf umbrella.

Flower Art Trays

I actually think this is great and not just for picnics, it is just so cute and they have loads of this design in many array of products. The artist named is Jenny K. Phillips and she is the director the Botanical Art School of Melbourne. Melbourne of course is in Australia and the they just turn out the most amazing flower and botanical art.

There are small trays for as little as 5 dollars.

Bright Blankets and extras

This Polyester blanket used for camping is great for family picnics because the pattern is so cut and colorful. It consist of wavy lines and black ant like smiling faces. It has a water resistant backing so the damp grass will never dampen your spirits. The blanket is black, purple, pink and green.

Don't forget your sunblock and bugs spray. When you have a particularly wet summer, mosquitoes will be very bad. Dryer sheets in your pocket have been known to help prevent bug bites.

There are also wearable bug repellant. I'm not just talking about sprays, you can find clips and bracelets as well. There is also a bug a salt gun, that shoots salt at mosquitoes and flies that are bugging you.

You can take any meal outside, call it a picnic and it always tastes better all of a sudden, there is just a special magic that happens to food with a picnic. My Mom was great for creating spontaneous picnics in our park like yard growing up. I can just picture all of us sitting on a blanket with smiles enjoying our peanut butter sandwiches on homemade bread with her chokecherry jelly.
