Unexpected Vegan Foods
Maybe you're a new vegan wondering what on earth can I eat now?, an old vegan hoping to learn some new tricks, or a non-vegan wondering what to feed your vegan guests. Whatever your background, you have to admit: sometimes mixing up your own healthy vegan cuisine is way too much work and you just want some empty calories. For lazy days, here are some foods that are vegan right off the shelf.
Okay, everyone knows this one. But just in case you didn't, it's pretty important! No one should have to live without Oreos, and vegans and people with egg and milk allergies don't have to. Hooray!
Cap'N Crunch Peanut Butter Crunch
Sure, you could go for the Fiber One rabbit-food options...or you can have something totally delicious, ridiculous, and somehow vegan. Kid-you beams at you from your past.
Ghirardelli Hot Chocolate
They're not all vegan, but the Chocolate Hazelnut, Chocolate Mocha, and Double Chocolate are. Make them with water, or with rice milk/almond milk/soy milk/whatever kind of milk floats your boat for extra decadence.
Lay's Potato Chips
Not all of them, but a big thumbs-up to Plain, Thick Cut Sea Salt, and Natural Country Barbecue. Lay's is always coming out with novelty flavors, too, so check the ingredients and see if you get to taste some of the weirdness.
It's true, no gelatin in these! Swim right on into my mouth, fishies. Similarly...
Sour Patch Kids
Be a children-eating vegan.
Kraft Creamy Italian Dressing
Yup, "creamy," and still vegan. There's more out there than vinegar and olive oil! (Not that that isn't delicious too...). This goes great with raw veggies, or anywhere you would have used ranch in a non-vegan life.
Walden Farms Chipotle Ranch Dressing
Or just have some ranch dressing. Warning: This stuff has no calories so it's probably kinda gross.
Protip: Before you unwrap it, shake shake shake it forever until it forms a little lump in the bottom of the wrapper. Concentrated Airhead goodness.
Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
Maybe the best part of these is how delicious they are on their own. You won't even miss the butter.
Red Bull Energy Drink
No more sleepy vegans.
Doritos Spicy Sweet Chili–Flavored Tortilla Chips
Non-vegans don't eat healthy all the time, so why should you!
Hooray! The possibilities are endless.
Betty Crocker Bac-Os Bacon Flavor Bits
Because you say you don't miss bacon, but you know you do.
Smucker's Marshmallow Ice Cream Topping
Or maybe what you really miss is marshmallows. Obviously having regular ice cream with this is a no-go, but how about putting a little on a peanut butter sandwich, hmm?
Sara Lee Oven Fresh Apple Pie
Go figure. Grab one when your vegan guests are coming to town and stick it in the oven before dinner. Viola, foolproof vegan dessert.
Some of the unfrosted (none of the frosted) versions are vegan. I have to admit...personally, Pop Tarts are nothing to me without the frosting, but more power to you if you can stomach the sad brown tops.
Campbell's Tomato Soup
If anyone ever asks you how you stay vegan, telling them that you can still have this stuff might make it all make sense. Also...
Heinz Tomato Ketchup
Put it on all the things!
Hershey's Chocolate Syrup
For things that don't go well with ketchup.
Duncan Hines Creamy Home-Style Frosting (Classic Vanilla)
It's not easy to make a good homemade vegan frosting, so let Duncan Hines do the magic for you.
Everyone knows Original is the best.
