Teacup Cakes - A Fun and Unexpected Way to Entertain

Teacup cakes are a fun, tasty, and creative way to entertain guests. Tea cakes have been served to guests for centuries, but now with oven safe tea cups, people have begun baking cakes right in the tea cup itself! The result is an unexpected and whimsical delight, an individual tea cup cake baked for each individual guest. What a fun idea!

I think teacup cakes are cute and charming. I love to surprise my girls with a cake baked in a precious teacup. It takes little effort to make, but feels like such a special treat. It's also fun to bake a batch when my daughter's have friends over to play. Teacup cakes are great to serve your friends during long talks, to charm guests at a baby shower, or to create a fun English tea themed birthday party for a lady of any age. However you decorate or serve them I think they are adorable and a fun surprise.

Here you will find teacup cake molds, oven safe tea cups, and lots of images of teacup cakes to give you great ideas.

How to Make Teacup Cakes

Teacup cakes are very simple to make

It's super easy to make adorable teacup cakes. All you need is either an oven safe tea cup or a silicon tea cup mold. Any cake recipe, or even boxed cake mix, will do. Simply make your cake batter as usual (I only use homemade, but boxed cake mix would work too) and instead of pouring into a greased cake pan, you pour into a greased tea cup and bake it right in the cup! I grease my teacups by getting a stick of butter and rubbing it all over the inside of the cup. You could also use shortening and flour just like when greasing a cake pan.

The result is a super cute individual tea cup cake! Frost and decorate it and serve it right in the cup.

How cute is that? What a sweet idea, especially for a party for the little girls. Have to say, though, that tea cake recipe has so much sugar in it, I got a headache just reading it! Do you think it would bake up well with half the sugar? I might give it a try.
