I Love Soup!
The Best Soup Does Not Have to Be Homemade!
Yes, I love soup any time of the year. January is "National Soup Month" but I, frankly, enjoy soup in the summertime, too.
I especially adore Tomato Basil Soup with a grilled cheese sandwich. I have decided that I must learn to make this yummy soup myself from the wonderful fresh tomatoes available during the long and hot summer. However, I must tell you that my Campbell's Kirkland Tomato Basil Soup in a can is hard to beat.
Do you have an opinion about the best soup? Do you like already assembled soups in a can or an package, or do you make soup from scratch?
Duel: Homemade or packaged soup! - Remember--tell us what you MOST OFTEN prepare!
Yes, no one can debate the healing powers of your mom's homemade soup, but sometimes what you can purchase off the shelf might be just as yummy. You can make a comment about this soup debate, too. Scroll down to participate in a Poll at the bottom of the page, too.
What type of soup do you most often prepare at home?
Homemade from "scratch"
If you have to choose between soup and love, choose soup.
I love Soup Mix! - Broccoli Cheese Soup is fabulous!
There is nothing wrong using a prepackaged mix to make soup. I recently prepared a Harry and David Tuscan Bean Soup and it was quite nice. It was not too spicy and I used some really high quality chicken breast. This mix made the perfect meal for a cold and rainy January evening. It was even more delicious the next cold and sunny day at noon. The beans did not go all mushy, either. What was even better was the fact that I made the soup in one pot in under two hours.
Over Thanksgiving we had the Broccoli Cheese Soup mix from Bear Creek. This prepackaged mix was absolutely top notch. It is amazing what high quality soups one can get in an envelope now a days!
Freda made this soup on Thanksgiving Eve and it was the perfect choice. Soup leaves plenty of room for everything else!
The Tuscan Bean soup was really fabulous and actually quick to make.
My Review: Kirkland Signature Campbell's Tomato Basil Soup - My very favorite soup! It is from a can.
I used to go to Newks ( a restaurant for fast food) for the tomato basil soup and half a sandwich, but now I save money by having soup at home. I am not very good at making "cream" type soups, so when I found Kirkland Signature Campbell's Tomato Basil Soup at my local Costco, I was ecstatic! What is even better is that this soup is canned and has a longer shelf life than the refrigerated soup I had been buying. I can tell you that the tomato basil soup from Kirkland is excellent! Smooth and creamy with chunks of sweet tomato and specks of basil make this soup a staple on my shelf.
You will have no trouble consuming 8 cans of this soup. Ready to serve; do not add water!
Enjoy your soup in Fiestaware Jumbo Mugs!
Yes, coffee is wonderful to sip out of this Jumbo mug, but soup is even better! I like to use eaten with a large spoon. Since most of the soups I enjoy are less than 200 calories per one cup serving, I have no problem with my diet when I use my mugs. These mugs can hold 16 ounces, but I usually do not fill it all the way up because I leave room for the crackers.
Kirkland Tomato Basil Bisque - made by Campbell Soup
Mmm, mmm good! It bears sharing this soup recommendation twice! I love this soup! Dress it up any way you choose! Try a little bit of fresh chopped basil from your herb garden or a few croutons that you made using the left over french bread you saved from last night's dinner. I am particularly fond of Cheezits.

When do you like to eat soup? - What is the perfect soup eating weather?
I love eating soup all year round. During the summer, one is more likely to make a vegetable soup using the fresh produce that is available. Fall and winter are great times for heavy soups to make one warmer. Spring is ideal for light soups because we are all trying to get our bodies back in shape for the summer bathing suit season.
Rainy days are good for soup slurping, don't you think? Those days can come any time of the year.
