Why I love my tablet cooking stand

Updated on April 10, 2014

I have owned my tablet for a little over a year and while I use it for lots of things reading recipe magazines and websites are probably my favorite thing to do on it. Consequently it spends a lot of time in my kitchen these days.

Over the last few months I have tried lots of different ways to prop it up so I can read recipes while cooking. At first I just used a regular book stand and while this was often OK the bottom of the screen was covered by the stand and it never felt really safe, in fact it slid off once when I scrolled to the next screen.

I then just used the my regular leather tablet cover which doubles as a stand but it kept getting marked by my messy cooking so I knew I needed a better solution. After searching online I came across this Belkin Kitchen Stand especially made for tablets. I was a bit hesitant to spend more on my tablet after paying a fortune for my leather cover/stand but I went ahead anyway.

I am so glad I did. This stand holds my laptop securely in place while I am cooking. It takes up hardly any room on my kitchen bench and it comes with a wand which keeps my often sticky hands off the screen!

It has a rubber base that stops it from slipping around the bench and it completely washable so if you do have a spill it is easy to clean up. I like that you can use it in either landscape or portrait depending on the page you are viewing. All in all I am really happy with my purchase and plan on buying a couple for my friends for their kitchen adventures.

Oh and if you get sick of cooking it works equally well in bed for watching movies ;-)

@SusannaDuffy: I use it for my phone as well Susanna - it holds it nicely and does not cover the screen

What a fantastic idea! Wonder if there's an iPhone stand? I often prop my phone on the kitchen bench, not the best of ways to follow a recipe
