   Did anyone see the first episode of the America series last night on the History channel?  I missed it, but set it to record each episode. I'm looking forward to watching it.

   no but it sounds good. i watched The Pacific. maybe they are on at the same time? anyway i don't have dvr otherwise i would record it

   yeah, I know. I hardly watch tv, but last night there were 3 shows on at the same time I wanted to see. I set the dvr to record each episode.

   I watched it last night, it was really good. The two episodes that came on covered the American colonists coming here and the American Revolution.

   haven't seen it yet, but I saw the commercials. this morning I saw on History channel all about how we wiped out the native americans, made me reeeeal proud. It was in the name of "religion" they didn't worship christ.

      Many things have been commited in ignorance, however we cannot undo what has been done.  We can learn from it, but guilt and self flagellation will not change the past.  Instead let us look to the future.

   Watched the first two episodes last night, "Rebels" and "Revolution".
   
   I'll be watching more.  There will be two new episodes on every Sunday night through Memorial Day.
   
   Fortunate to have had a press kit.

      nice, I just finished watching the first two hours with my son.
      excellent. very well presented and I like the speakers that come in and make a statement. it brings it's relevance into this century.

   the link is a great detailed review of the first two episodes shown last night. I couldn't agree with him more. It is really excellent. Here is a section from his hub:

    I saw the episode "Rebels". This is my humble opinion about it... I liked the recreation of colonial cities and some historical events; the digital images are also very good and bring dynamism to this kind of program. But on the other hand, I found the narrative a bit shallow, since it focuses on a description of some facts, instead of offering a problematical analysis and a myriad of interpretations about colonization and the revolutionary cause. I think, it also lacks a proper historical contextualization of some of the processes presented. (I can be more precise if needed or requested). I think that the way they included Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani and Michael Douglas comments doesn't add much to the episode (BTW, I don't have anything against them personally just that, in my opinion, they do not fit to this type of program; or more precisely,  to the way the program was assembled).
    
    Nevertheless, I will continue to watch.
    
    I will like to read your opinion about it.

    I think this may be because it is also trying to appeal to a younger audience as well, who have short attention spans and need the music, cgi effects, entertainment etc. many young (and not so young) people really don't know very much about our history as a country. I read somewhere that they're not spending a lot of time on events that get the most attention in history books and that makes some of the segments seem to gloss over important periods.
    
    as for the 'notables' speaking throughout the series, I see what they're doing, trying to bring it into our current time and culture.
    it could certainly do without some of those chosen, but if it's straight documentary, some people will lose interest. I think it's great if it enables Americans to remember/realize/understand that the journey has not been easy. there have always been difficult times and challenges in our history to move through.  I appreciate your comments, caribe and feel free to share whatever thoughts, impressions you have.

    last nights episodes were so interesting. I'm enjoying watching this series and learning a lot I didn't realize or forgot!
    amazing how Lincoln used the telegraph to communicate during the civil war. without it, the course of the war may have changed.
    it was like what email is to us.
    
    the heartland episode was so inspiring seeing how we started developing the west, especially with the building of the trans contintental railroad. sad about the Native Americans.
