I have been here for about two weeks. I am getting traffic from other sources other than hubpages, but the majority comes from here. I was wondering, how long did it take you to start seeing more traffic from other places. I am trying to learn about promoting and keywords and backlinking. I think I am doing ok with that.

Just want to know what to expect. Thanks guys! BTW, there are so many nice people here!

That depends on the quality of your content.  Interesting content attracts traffic.  You are already on a great platform that should help you, all you havve to do is create great articles.

Keyword research is essential and simple quality backlinks helps.  Also post all your articles to great social sites like facebook - this helps with making your articles viral and spreading the word.

Take a look at my hubs about content being king for some inspiration if you want but the best advice is be natural and google will love you for it.

If you are going to backlink - use quality article sites with high PR like ezines or infobarral but you have to post good articles and relevant with links to hp inserted.  These have to be unique content too.  Same rules apply.

          Hope this helps you further

Yes, I have done ezine. I did mess up at first by submitting some of the articles I wrote here to ezine. I was very confused at first. But I am now understanding things much better.  I never heard of infobarral, I will check that out thanks. I am getting a decent amount of traffic, but of course I only want to get more : )  I appreciate your help.

    Hello & Welcome to HP!!

I'm not too sure how to answer your question, but I've been here almost 5 months and most of my traffic still comes from HubPages - but my hubs aren't geared toward making money so I'm okay with that. (more creative writing & article writing)

Yeah, there are a lot of super nice people at this site. smile

    Welcome To HP jenn,
Having good traffic within hubpages implies that your hubs are of quality and attractive. The google takes only few days to index new hubs soon after that you'll start getting traffic from other site's as well. As your hubs are attractive you can promote them at digg, newswine etc.
Yep.. Me too agree.. HP is full of people who are hard to meet in real life! smile

Hello jenn(I am a jenn too) The best thing to do is to write more articles with the most informative and engaging content. The traffic will soon come and as long as you know about keywords you're at a win-win situation because keywords+good and content=traffic. I am also learning that longer articles seem to attract the search engines and other places as well. That will work in the long run..

    Welcome to HP!! smilesmilesmile

You're welcome.. I am learning about keywords and traffic myself. The traffic is coming slowly but surely but I am just glad it is coming, lol.. Hopefully, I will see the benefits of it soon..

It takes a lot of people between 6 and 9 months to start seeing any real earnings. If you put in the work though you should see things improve much more quickly!

Yep, many seem to get the first payout at 9 or 10 months!  But some do better and some do worse.  Depends on you!

    Welcome to hubpages Jenn.
You have had very good advice here, so I will just say... enjoy!
I write a mix of hubs, some are not designed to be commercial, but still make money over time, so play around.

It doesn't matter if all your hubs are big hitters or not. It is great to have the freedom to write purely for yourself too. smile
