Any thoughts on the most recent developments in Afghanistan?
Here's a link to three informed opinions which basically add up to HO HUM, nothing much new:
http://www.nytimes.com/roomfordebate/20 … r-files?hp
It reminds me of Walter Cronkite's report after Tet. I think most Americans thought that war was winnable until that moment.
The American Public will never know the true reason for this War on Humanity.
FACT: American Servicemen are Dieing.
I have still not come across any Media Report that tells us what we are going to gain by "Winning". And how does one define Winning?
What I do know for sure is that Geroge Bush Started this and Obama is escalating it... and it's bilking the tax payer out of Billions.
Less than $5 Billion a year comes from the Federal Government for Cancer Research which benefits all members of society as new treatments are discovered. But $4 Billion a month is spent on this war. In my view not exactly a good source of allocation for Tax Dollars. Does anyone believe we are any Safer by perpetuating this War on Humanity?
We don't have to win - we just need strategic control of the world's oil and natural gas reserves. Oil is power, and it's running out, thus it will become more valuable. All we need is a military presence - we don't need a stable government or an end to Muslim extremism or whatever.
That, and it served to enrich Bush and Cheney's cronies in Halliburton and Blackwater at taxpayer expense.
In a word: No.
We are fighting a hydra that continues to grow new heads.
I believe the money and soldier-power would be better spent on securing our own country.
This guy's story will make a great movie after he gets caught.
Caught indeed!

Anybody surprised by the fact that government has been lying to us for years about what's going on in Afghanistan deserves what they get.
I just wish they wouldn't continually insist on taking the rest of us down with them.
Obama used this war as a campagin tool and now he's escalated in order to be viewed as keeping his campagin promise to fight the "right" war.
This war is a debacle! WE're sending money to the ISI in Pakistan which goes right to the Taliban and is used to kill Americans. Our Marines are guarding poppy fields so warlords can have the revenue and participate in the government all while we spend billions to stop the drug trade.
Up is down black is white and Obama is the Chesire Cat of an Alice in Wonderland government. He's creating jobs while unemployment is rising and forclosures are increasing and debt is rising. More debt has the economy headed in the right direction. More taxes will spur growth. Logic and common sense are missing from this administration and government in general!
Pakistan our ally, knows exactly where Bin-Laden is and they refuse to deliver him. We're wasting our time in Afganisatn and Iraq, and our treasure and most importantly, American lives.
Just to keep Pakistan on their side, America is wasting a lot of money. It sends arms to defend itself, ie., for their self defence. But Pakistan has always used those arms against India only. Knowing this well, America is sending more money to them. Whenever war breaks out between India and Pakistan, India has to fight against American arms only. If America wants to fight with India, it should come directly and should not create a proxy to fight India. Every time an American leader comes to Pakistan, they come with "3 bags full" of money. Latest is Ms.Clinton. Pakistan is pulling on only with American money. Then why is there a government? It is like an American colony. Pakistan should avoid getting alms from America. It should creates its own resources and then run the government.

Most of you know I am very critical of Obama but it looks like he is going to send about 20,000 to 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan which is what needs to be done. At least, that is the rumor on the street. For all of you who support Obama, I'm assuming you will be against this...
