      Well, if you're the husband, as soon as you want. My baby can lie screaming beside him and I swear he won't wake up.
      
      I, on the other hand, jump straight up if she rolls over or coughs (and remember, she's on the other side of the house in her own bed.)
      
      And sleep for everyone in the house? My baby girl is eleven months now and she usually wakes twice a night still. I can get her to sleep through but it's hard work (think forced daytime naps so she's not overtired, huge amounts of solids before bed, extra bottles etc.)

   Congrats! And pictures please... Oh, and the name is...?
   
   I raised 3 kids, and my ex-hubby swears that I went for close to 5 years without getting more than 2 hours of unbroken sleep at any time.
   
   It goes by way too quickly though, so enjoy all of it--including the lack of sleep.

    Mine is 3 years old and it went like this:
    No sleep- 3 months
    Minimal sleep- 6 months
    Almost normal sleep- 1 year
    Quality sleep like I knew before My Boy arrived- What?

    I stopped sleeping when I was 5 months along with my son, because he was off to the side, which made me uncomfortable.  I would have slept sooner, but I had his baby sister when he was three; which meant my son was 7 before I got six hours of sleep one Friday night.  So, the way I see it, it's about three years per baby. (My son was a premie, so he needed an extra year of watching. )  (Sorry to tell you that.     )  (On the other hand, his father got the standard amount of sleep the whole time - so it may depend on whether you're the father or the mother in some cases.     )  Of course, it was my own fault; because my babies slept through the night at - like - a month old.  My thing was, though, once I'd put them in after the last feeding I wanted a couple of hours to myself.  (Then, of course, there were those times when I felt the need to watch them while they were asleep.)  Anyway, living on three or four hours sleep is good practice for those who who are under the illusion that eight hours of sleep is necessary.
